I made it out on Saturday to check this out. A fair amount of snow on the ground that last mile or so before Pinnacle Rock. I made it within a 1/4 mile and decided to turn around since I was by myself. Roads are in grood shape though. If you don't mind camping in the snow you should be fine...
I'd been planning an overnight trip to this exact area for a couple weeks then thought to look on this forum to see if there was any trip reports and found this thread. The plan was to go tomorrow, 3/17, but with all this rain I wonder if it's not going to work.
Does anyone know how bad these...
Welcome to the group! I've got your rigs twin down here in California. We should compare build notes. So far the truck has taken me everywhere I want to go in stock form. The traction control is impressive. There is a Mitsubishi thread on here. You should pop over and say hello...
Just read through this build for the first time. I'm impressed with how much you get out and use your truck. I have three kids too and the schedule has so many roadblocks to getting offroad. Also, love the way you just went out in the stock rig and then made the modifications you needed. I have...
Spent the day exploring Frank Raines OHV in Patterson, CA. So much fun. It was perfect weather. Great place to teach my 16-year-old son to drive off-road. He did great. We brought my 1993 Pathfinder and it impressed too.
The author also drives a 1999 Land Rover Discovery that he claims has been virtually trouble free.... He posted another article about why you should buy a full-size truck for overlanding. You have to take his advice in context.
This quote really got me thinking...

I've driven my family crazy watching all the Andrew St Pierre White videos. He has done a couple of these trips in stock vehicles. Though, to be fair, the diesel engines they have are a huge advantage. He just finished doing the Canning Stock Route in a brand new Land Cruiser Trooopy that had...
This article by Wes Siler has got me reconsidering some of my build plans. More than anything he embraces the Overland Bound ethos of get out and go, don't let your lack of a perfect rig hold you back.

Hello Rob,
I believe I'm the second member of Overland Bound in Ripon. My name is Rob too. Good to know there are some likeminded people here. Hope to run into you sometime.
Great looking Montero. I bet it does well regeared. These really are great vehicles. I predict the secret won't be kept for long. As the price of Land Cruisers goes up to the insane level people are going to look for another reliable, Japanese, SUV and latch onto the Montero. Give it a couple years
Checking in here. Picked up my 2003 Montero this week. I live in the Central Valley of California and can hit a lot of trails in an hour. I'm talking my brother's in law into getting rigs and joining me.
I lurked on a lot of Montero forums and thanks to their advice limited my search to a 03 or...
