I have a 360, dama 40 4.09 front and Dana 60 4.10 rear.
Ants are a pain. Like electrical work.
You do what you can and that is okay. Bummer about having no hard solid surfaces.
Lanlubber, do you not have a crawler on wheels? :D
I hear you on the electrical issues. I end up swapping the ignition module or the voltage regulator and the problem is fixed. Given my truck is 78, they might have changed and add over the years.
I think I have a battery drain. I am not sure...
All I see is the start of a Clean Gambler Build. Look up Gambler 500. They off road Miata and Toyota Corollas.
My truck is my Daily and so with him been down for nearly a year, I have riding a bike to work or, more recently, using my parents spare car. We do what we can with what we got. Good...
Nice Rigs Lanlubber. Dana 80 is pretty beefy for a 3/4 ton. If you have 4 wheel drive, how do you have a 2 piece driveshaft? I have a one piece.
I hear you on the gas millage, I am glad mine has two tanks. 44 gallons and 10-11 Smiles per gallon.
I have pictures here through the thread. I'll post one from last summer and this summer.
It is a full time 4 wheel drive, Dana 40 front, Dana 60 rear, 8ft bed. I do not do short beds. I like being able to use my truck. If he wasn't down we already would have been on the trails.
Have you tried...
Update September 2019
I loaded up Buddy on the largest Trailer Uhaul had, truck packed, 15' Uhaul packed and 3 chickens and one rooster in the back of the pickup. The Chickens made it home then a damn racoon got them.
I did not want to hot ball home but the weather had other plans. it was 30-36...
Beadlocks are not for daily drivers, correct?
I vote Steel. I run an old 78 Dodge, 8 lug, and sure I'm not going to beat it, though I am not sure Aluminum would look right. Functionality I think it all would work the same.
Now for my trail truck I plan on running 17in 8 lug steels because they...
Yeah Ha Ha.
God Has other plans.
I got the Trans fixed, hope so, couldn't really get the truck up to speed seeing how the carb needed a rebuild after sitting. Then I blew a couple U-joints, one on the driver side front axle and one on the rear end of the rear driveshaft.
So I plan on Towing him...
Felt like there should be a master post for talking about Tire sizes and Lift kits we have on our rigs.
Currently My 78 has the stock ride height, and 235/85R16, I believe 31" tires.
I am doing research and gathering ideas for my first build project. Truck will be used as a trail rig, tow rig...
So I am working this Summer and fixing the truck; Finland is taking a back seat for now.
The List:
Transmission Rebuilt
T-Case Rebuilt
Rear Drive Line Rebuilt
Breather put in
New Transmission Mounts
Oil Leak fixed on the back of the block
Transmission Cooler bought and installed
I'll update...
So here are pictures of my fuel lines. You can see the tight bends it is performing when is exits the frame and heads to the fuel pump.
Is there a reason behind the bends?
Fourth one is the rubber house between the fuel pump and the hard line going into the Carb. This I was wanting to either...
Talked to the Napa man and his opinion is that the Braided line is just for show and steel hard line is the best way to go.
Hydraulic fluid isn't bothered too much by tight 90 degree bends while for gasoline it is better to have a larger sweeping 90 degree bend.
Thoughts?
Saw a Couple posts about Trans coolers just they didn't go in depth much.
I am thinking about purchasing a Mishimoto Bar and Plate cooler. Would a Cross-Flow cooler be a single-pass type of cooler?
It seems to me that deciding between Stainless Steel or Alum Hard Line and Braided Stainless...
that box on your 78, is that 6' or 8'. hard to find them quad cab 8'ers.
the only way to tell 77 from 78 is the turn lights. Orange lens was standard in 78 but Dodge decided to use up the old clear ones first. That is what I got, my truck being an early 78. I like the clear over the amber.
I...
