Sweet! I have a little 35ah battery from one of my homebrew solar generators I destroyed (we live offgrid) and was looking to repurpose it!
I've had my fridge for 2 mos now and its been tested daily on some rocky, rutted trails and roads without fail. Im very impressed how the compressor is...
Good to know on the voltage cutoff, I just turned it from high to medium to test it out.I plan on replacing both Jeeps' batteries with Northstars, so I'm secretly trying to kill one off.
Will it be open then? I was surprised I could get through Hoodoo pass last year. If that area is open, I can probably get through going up towards St. Maries.
@pierceg , paul, and MikeDubya (cant remember screen names) were there.
And I'm going to throw out the last 2 sections of the IDBDR...
I was looking at my maps this weekend, I want to check out that FR that goes up around Old Dominion Peak on the ridge above Silver Lake. All depends on Mother Nature opening the forest roads..
That ridge road looks close to where we were banging around the St. Joe's last year, in fact dumps...
Anyone planning on taking the Motorway this season, please note FR 100/ Glenwood Rd, the main road to Kamiah, Idaho from the west terminus of the LM, and FR 101, the main aporoach from Syringa off HWY 12 were completely blown out this week. FR 101 may be repaired by mid-July, but Glenwood now...
The Magruder is almost always open before the Lolo, if only by a few days. I can do the Motorway in one long day, but two days with a stopover would give you enough time to get through and enjoy a few sidetrips.
With the road repairs on the Magruder in 2016, a sedan could make it to Elk City...

Look up Sandpoint Steves thread of the 2017 trip 9-10 of us did. Fairly pic heavy. I met them down in Elk City, then hit up the Lolo Motorway west to get back to my cabin.
Nice pics! Now that all the Hwy 12 construction is wrapped up, im going to bang around the 373 a bit this summer as well. Between last year's said construction, the 2017 fire closures, I haven't been able to roll up there.
It'd be a nice change up dropping down into MT that route in lieu of 12...
I'm a liar. I mispoke on the torque for a jk trackbar, its 125 ft lbs, 185 ft lb was for the pitman arm. This is why I always carry a sheet cheat in each rig.
I was a little saddened to see people had widened the "problem" at Horseshoe instead of taking the bypass. A little surprised it was so dusty, we had a hell of a storm cell come through last night, maybe that area just got the dry lightning.
Bob Wohlers has a great book you may want to check out, Live Long to Wander. I have no association with him, but do live offgrid in the woods and travel a lot solo in the Idaho Rockies. Even with my experience, I found a few gems and am recommending it to my friends. I can't agree more with his...
Yep. Our property line is the Clearwater NF boundary. It's usual to see beer cans right outside the boundary line because folks drink, then toss the evidence. We'll find fast food wrappers when there's no fast food for 100+ miles.
But the saddest thing was going out to a fire lookout cabin last...
I already found three new routes that cross or drive a small portion of the LM, closer towards the MT side I want to check out. Maybe this Fall, maybe 2019.
I thought it was my imagination, but the road is definitely rougher than the actual 468 (Magruder) rd.
