10 of 10 RSVP'd, can I just go to the meet point and follow the line of rigs around all day and say I'm not in the group? Switched an on-call week so I'm now free this weekend.
I see you reside in Windsor too! That’s just to the South of me in Severance. Small world! Let me know if you need help with any mods or such, I’m a hop skip and a jump away!
Welcome Chris!! Nice blue Jeeps in that picture there. Look at that one climbing that rock, he must be AWESOME!!!! or in denial....
Glad we ran into you on that trip and we could all make it up to Miller Rock! Feel free to reach out to @Iridium and we can get you in our local Telegram...
I couldn’t pair via the earthmate app, only the explore app. I’m already in process of factory resetting the stupid thing. If it isn’t reliable or meant to do what I need then I’m not going to trust it in the field. Apparently Zoleo won’t either, their customer support said the application I...
The reason I didn’t get the cellular iPad was because I wanted a satellite communicator. I figure I should get with the times and have that extra layer of safety for backcountry trips whether backpacking or driving.
I’ve got the 8.4” and it sucks. Using CarPlay is horrible with Gaia. The UI is the worst. Difficult to scroll and zoom so I knew I wouldn’t be using that. It does display but apparently not good enough for me. Haha I guess I’m just really picky.
This is a good suggestion. My wife did get this iPad at Costco so maybe we can still return it. No box or anything but they’ll still take it back within 90 days I believe for electronics. It’s becoming extremely frustrating because I read all over the internet about people doing this.
Nope, it doesn’t even work with the garmin explore app. If I turn in WiFi and it gets it’s position then turn off WiFi, it seems to keep the GPS info but that’s garbage and not feasible in the field.
No you can’t. I’m trying it literally right this seconds and for the past week and you can pair an inreach to an iPad via Bluetooth but the iPad doesn’t get any GPS information to use in Gaia.
Garmin support was horrible. They replied and did not support me at all. I think this thing is going back. No idea what I’ll try next, not sure why it works for some but not others.
Just paired wife’s iPad with the mini and same results. Going to start searching he web for mini and iPad pairing problems and then reach out to garmin. If they can’t help I’ll ask for all my money back for activation and first months charges then return the thing to REI and try something else...
Thanks Kris!! Yup, I have location access turned on for Gaia. Sounds like it should be as easy as I’m expecting, Bluetooth then use the app.
Question for you: do you open the garmin explore app before you open Gaia? My mini was saying something like open the app for full access. So I tried...
This is what I see on the devices. It sounds like no one else has this problem, at least none who have responded here are using these devices and encountered the issue.
