My dad is selling his very well kept Dodge Ram. He doesn't know what to ask for it. Anyone interested in making an offer? Truck is near Salem, Oregon. Here's a description.
12 VALVE CUMMINS TURBO DIESEL; AUTOMATIC; POWER STEERING; 4-WHEEL DRIVE; QUAD CAB; LONG BED; ONLY 172,000 MILES; ORIGINAL...
Rumors on the interwebs are beginning to circulate that the iPhone 13 will support Globalstar satellite communication. How likely would this be without some kind of external antenna?

While overlanding and backpacking I usually just take Starbucks Via instant coffee. Boil water, dump single serving into cup, done. I like the simplicity of it, but not all the trash it produces. I'm looking for an instant coffee that comes in a larger container. Due to my coffee snobbery I...
I've seen several people ask if there was an Overland focused Discord server for chatting with other overlanders. I haven't seen one shared yet, so I created one.
Here is the invite link.
I figure the worst case scenario is that no one uses it. In which case no one was hurt.
Best case...
Just wondering if anyone has experience with something like this that actually works well.
I'm trying to find a good solution for use with some of my cycling friends who use the Baofeng radios on road rides. We can sometimes be separated by half a mile or more and having radio communication is...
I was tired of my pintle hitch between my Hummer and M1101 trailer clanking and banging around while on pothole filled logging roads. Took a dead mountain bike tire and some zip ties and just made a big reduction in the noise that thing made.
Just curious how many other overlanders out there forage wild mushrooms while you're out and about. Here in WA I frequently find Shaggy Manes and Shaggy Parasols. This summer I found some black morels growing on my property and this fall also found a few Chanterelles.
What mushrooms do you...
I was tired of the clunking between truck and trailer, especially on pothole filled logging roads. I just took a dead mountain bike tire and 4 zip ties and made a big improvement to the towing experience. No more clanking whatsoever.
What's your favorite diesel jerry can solution? I have a ton of roof space on my 1996 Hummer wagon, but am considering getting some kind of rear bumper carrier. Having a potential fuel leak at the bumper instead of the roof seems ... less bad.
I've used a ScanGauge II on my Hummer for a long time, but am developing my own based on the Raspberry Pi platform. More info about it on my website.
I'd love to know what other people are using and what you like/dislike/wish it had.
Anyone have a good trick or product that will reduce the clanking of the pintle hitch while on logging roads? I have a HMMWV trailer that I pull with my Hummer. Would like that banging around sound to go away.
Editing my signature appears to support BBCode, but whenever I try adding a link following this example it just removes the hyperlink and I end up with the plain text.
Is it possible to add hyperlinks in our signatures? If so, how is that done?
Thanks.
I'm looking for a good shemagh. Not only does it seem like an essential backpacking/overlanding piece of gear, but, while stuck in civilization, I could use it as a facemask. The only thing I'm not sure about is the material. I want to avoid cotton.
Other options are merino wool, polyester...
Just wondering if anyone out there has a Ram mount for an iPhone 5 that they'd like to get rid of in the interest of recycling. I am using my wife's old iPhone 5 to display OBD-II information and need a solid way to attach it to the inside of the windshield. Something like this would be perfect...
I'd like to get a case for my iPhone 11 Pro that will stand up to mountain biking, backpacking, and overland adventures. I like the looks and warranty of the Pelican Shield. Anyone have that case and would you recommend it? I'm open to other suggestions though. What do you have and how have you...
Anyone have experience with reusable bags like these? I like preparing my food ahead of time, but I also don't want to generate a bunch of plastic garbage when I camp. I have a Food Saver and already preserve a lot of food in one time use bags. I also use them to sous vide food.
