We'll be coming the opposite direction but what you say makes sense and good to know. We always give right of way to uphill traffic. Hope y'all have a safe trip. Sounds like a good time.
Apologies if I touched a nerve. I never travel unprepared or put myself in a situation where I would need to lean on the preparedness of others intentionally. It was meant to be more of a fun comment. Electric vehicles (and charging stations for that matter) will become more prevalent in the...
Yeah, looked at doing this also. What I came to was hybrid vehicles add a ton of additional failure points. The ICE trucks have more than 10,000 components whereas EV is around 400. That reduces failure points. In hybrid architecture, you combine the two and increase complexity. Also, electric...
Yeah, a generator could work. Solar would require way too many panels to be feasible. I'm not really worried about range. I'm rarely more than 150miles from some form of power. Even in the far reaches of Big Bend I can find an RV park with power.
I'll be taking delivery of my Rivian R1T this week and already have a few trips planned. I still love my Tacoma and will still use it for some longer trips until the infrastructure catches up but I'm excited at the potential it brings. I know some worry about range but just like an ICE, with a...
Thanks. Still the original frame from 1968. I've only upgraded the axle and trailer lights. Everything else, including pintle hitch, is all original. I believe you are correct that it's a M101A2. I love it. What plans do you have for yours?
Nice. I have the same trailer and love it. I swapped in a lighter axle, built a rack and threw a RTT on it. Love the fact that I can haul everything, including a couple kayaks, and have a really comfortable camp.
Thanks for posting this. I am planning a trip for July and this was almost the exact route I mapped out today. This will be my first time running these trails ( Ophir Pass, Imogene Pass, Yankee Boy Basin, Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass/Wager Gulch then back down to Silverton).
Any advice or things...
I just got back from doing an Express Rally Overland event recently and loved it. We started in Dover and ran up Granny Gap and a bunch of other trails for a few days. Camped on the water every night and had a great time. I had a trip to New Mexico planned but the National Forest got shut down...
Would anyone in the group be interested in a multi day kayaking trip down the Colorado River? I'm putting together a trip in late May and wanted to gauge interest.
26-MAY-2022 UPDATE: On May 25, 2022, the Lincoln National Forest entered Stage 3 Fire Restrictions, which close the forest. There is no public access allowed on any part of the forest. All trails, campgrounds, recreation sites, picnic sites and dispersed camping areas are closed until conditions...
Good call. I should have included that.
97 Tacoma with a softtopper. No rack
Custom bumper with dual Jerry cans and spare tire swing out.
Was considering getting a single can holder and trying to mount the propane next to it.
