Anyone willing to drive out to Anderson Pond on the Eglin Reservation is welcome to come out for our second meet up and BBQ. This time will be a little different, bring your own stuff to cook/drink and any cooking set up you got. Everyone will be able to show off their setups and maybe a good...
We’ll probably just meet there at noon I kinda promised I’d camp with my daughter so I should already be set up. This is my last weekend for a little that I know for sure I’m off once I get the rotation down I’ll be able to do more. Also remember everyone bring your own meals/drinks a few of us...
Well we might not have everyone this go around but I really wanna try out my new gazelle tent that just showed up. So I think sat for a cookout will be good and I might even be staying the night. What’s everyone’s feelings on that.
Cool well let’s see how everyone else feels and at a min let’s plan on sat around noon at Anderson pond on the camping side. I might end up camping there that sat night, my new gazelle tent came in and I’m pretty pumped to use it.
Sorry for the delay I started a new job on wed and it’s been a little crazy. I’m sure y’all put it together that atleast today (sat) we’re not meeting so maybe Sunday or one of the days next weekend. If not there’s plenty more weekends ahead that we can work towards just answer back with...
I’m actually thinking about doing a camp out either this weekend or possibly next up in Blackwater or possibly Anderson Pond. If anything we can do another day trip to Anderson Pond and switch it up to everyone bring what they wanna cook/drink and that way maybe we can see everyone’s cooking set...
I haven’t been out there since 2013 when I got out of active duty, I used to have tons of fun there but as far as I remember it was more for off-roading rather then exploring. Plus it’s usually a ton of hammered people zooming around atleast from what I remember (I used to be one of those). Some...
Yea duck pond is also a little nicer for removing yourself from sounds of traffic. Anderson pond is the best maintained campsites out of all of them though.
I have been going through a bunch of stuff to explore Alabama lately I’ll have to share the route I made. But we could single out some of those spots and make a weekend trip out of it also. Plus I found what I think is a decent spot to camp in Blackwater that has some cool sites near by.
Last time we did a little cookout at Anderson Pond just North of Niceville which is a pretty good spot for meeting. And a few of us have talked about some overnight camp outs also.
Yea there’s trails all over, just make sure you have the permit and check the daily closures along with making sure your on numbered roads. There’s tons to do without tearing up the roads too bad or venturing into closed off areas.
Yes RR211 is the road your talking about, it’s paved until the county maintained portion ends at the last street for the neighborhood. The rest of 211 is washboard sand and clay. But the rec areas on the north end off the river are pretty nice for picnics and what not.
So I found a place in Blackwater that looks like a decent campground with good trails and cool sites that’s next to 2 lakes. Thinking about doing another meet up but as an overnight or weekend camp out in the next month or so now that the weather is getting cooler. Anyone interested?
