Salem to Eugene and everywhere in between

I am no expert myself, but i love chasing new destinations and flingin' a fly around to see what rises. Metollious is a jewel of a river in the cascades and there are tons of offroad opportunities so its hard to get bored between backroads and and back casts:grinning:.

    Pickup VS SUV

Just my opinion, but the Excursion is a fantastic platform for overland camping. If you don't have to have the 7.3 litre diesel, they are easy to find for reasonable cost used (bought mine with 140K for $8500). Built on the very stout F250 chasis, all of those F250 upgrades apply to the...

Why Do You Like to Camp

Me, I overland because I love camping and have my entire life. My folks were true-blue (or tye-dye) hippies and when I was a small tyke, we camped all over the northwest. Sometimes for fun and sometimes out of necessity. It was always fun and focused on adventure and exploring. That experience...

    Rear bumper winch

While money is usually a top consideration for my overlanding purchases, I have saved and saved for a rear bumper with tire swingout for my excursion so I am OK with a little bit extra to get a great bumper for my rig. This company includes the winch as an extra $350 add on which is very...

    Rear bumper winch

I am looking at a new rear bumper for my Ford Excursion that can come winch equipped, or not. Just wondering if, while out on the trail, a rear winch is something that people use in self recovery that often? Or possibly, do people wish they had a winch on their rear bumper to assist with self...

Cast Iron or No? (weight right now is not an issue for me)

My cast flat iron skillet goes with me wherever I go. It's flat and stows easily. There are times when my dutch oven gets thrown in, but it's rare due to weight. My entire camp goes with me in three totes on my roof rack, and all components within must have dual purpose and be weight conscious...

Trail Guardian - Leave it Better Than You Found it

This is a really great way to recognize those folks that try to leave it better than they found it. I hope it spreads the idea throughout this great land and anywhere Overlanders may wander!

I have my 4 at kit ready to apply along the lower body line of my excursion. I'll take some pics as I jump into the project and let you know of any issues I run into. I understand prep is key so I will focus one whole three day weekend to proper prep, then follow that up with the application.

    Metolius River Dispersed Camping

I have a long weekend coming up and was thinking about pointing the overlander in the direction of the Metolius River area and was wondering if anyone is familiar with any dispersed camping (primitive) sites near the water? Me and the wife are very responsible campers (we pack out everything we...

    Camp Shower (Merged)

I simply use a new, dedicated for overlanding, weed sprayer. All sorts of wand tips available for different spray patterns. The sprayer is handy for all sorts of other things like rinsing dishes, cleaning mud off of boots etc. Just a couple of pumps of warm water is all you need.
