Greenhorn here so any kind of meet big or small am down with. Last year I drove 3 1/2 hours to Portsmouth for a meet with mountain state overland from Virginia then drove 3 1/2 hours back to my home in Cambridge New York. Am already locked in to expo west so even if we do a single day meet it...
If you think your gonna go in places alone that are more questionable that might require a winch you should get one. I am a believer in have it and not need it then need and not have it. But that is just me.

I think there is a right way to overland. Which I can assume most will agree on is "the safe way" no reason to put yourself in unnecessary danger. You choose what makes your overlanding the safest and most enjoyable.

I forgot to add that this would be a real first long trip camping from my vehicle so any other things that are highly recommended to have or tips to make this as trouble free as possible. I do need to drive this vehicle 2000 miles back home.

I have blocked out the entire month of May this year for an overland adventure with my dog. I am reaching out to overland bound members in Colorado, Utah, Arizona and, Nevada. I am just greenhorn to overlanding. I am looking for local members for advice/recommendations or join in on some...
So my rear bumper plans started over a year ago but they were for my 4Runner which some know burned to death. Now I have my 80 series I recently had a friend build me my bumper for that. It is a plate steel duel swing arm setup with two Jerry cans behind the spare tire. I have a ladder on the...
On my way to the metal shop for some steel tube for the new rear bumper tire and ladder swing arms. It was chilly and the morning light was just right for this shot.

Bed platform is done for the most part. I might paint it to match interior. Drawers might happen if my lines are straight enough on the frame.

I removed all but two seats in my 80 not for overlanding but for work but I figured this is the perfect time to build a bed frame in lou of not owning a RTT. It's just gonna be me and my dog in the back. Am only 5'7" so a 6' long bed frame with a 48"x72"x6" tri-fold foam mattress. I might...
I do have the straw lid setup for my 64oz hydro flask. I think they should come with that standard. I swapped the straw lid over to the 40oz for now. Easier to pick up. It's funny I bought the new lid and 2 straw kit, 2 straws? What am gonna with two straws and one lid? I guess a spare.

I think it was more like her giving me subtle clues that she wanted to die that I was not picking up on. She finally made it abundantly clear it was time to head to the scrap yard.
And pearl as she was called was going in the following week to fix the cv boot and caliper. Never ending repair. Each time I wanted to get something overlanding something else broke. Practically ever three weeks to a month something was breaking.
