Didn't have the trailer with us. We'd, originally, intended to use it at Douthat SP Sun thru Wed then haul it back via this route. But since we had to bail early, we just went and did the drive in a giant loop from the house on Sunday sans trailer and a bunch of gear.
Just for grins...
I didn't do the whole thing...oh no. LOL Just what looks like 2/3? (and most of the dirt) of leg 3. Happy to grab the .gpx in a bit. We plan to do the Georgia Traverse and the MABDR from the southern point to around Moorefield in May. We'll be in Anniston, AL for the US Canine Biathlon, and...
I promised @Dusther210 I'd write something up, so here goes! While not an epic excursion by any means, any chance to get out for 10 hours of seat time with the missus, and dogs to enjoy the VA/WV border is a good day! We, initially, intended to drive a good portion of the MABDR Leg 3...
@witchdoctor_33, how much of section 3 are you covering? We won’t be able to join as we’ll be at Douthat SP then, but plan to head north on section 3 from I64 there to either Brandywine or Wardensville, depending on how much time we have. I’m concerned about the water levels on the crossings...
TL;DR: should we wait until a later date to make the trip north and stick to state parks here in VA with current conditions?
Mornin, everyone! Looking for some current condition ground truth for BESF. We're down in NW Virginia now, and desperate to get back up to visit Dear Olde State while...
No worries there. I’d only use the RTT on my roof for times I wouldn’t use the trailer.
The roof rack on the trailer is pretty...meh. I also don’t care for the A/C as that seems to be a common point of failure on rough roads. But to get one without that, you’d have to special order it then wait...
Well done on the trailer, @Okieflyr ! I appreciate the comparison as it's directly relatable! I know there's limitations with the Intech; particularly as the size grows with the Explore! Your description of that off grid basecamp is pretty much what we've come to accept as what it'll amount...
Cross-posted on the FB page.
Anyone in the Northern VA area or somewhere between Front Royal and State College, PA have an Intech Explore (preferably lifted, adventure package, etc.) they’d be willing to rent out for a couple nights? We’ve been mulling over a multitude of trailer/camper...
My wife and I will be there. Just have to figure out logistics with the dogs and such and what day would be best. Of course with it being a holiday weekend, multiple events have to be going on at the same time :disappointed: I have a K9 obstacle course race to run that Saturday in Lewisburg...
Located in Front Royal, VA, but will meet within an hour away. Four clean rims in good shape off my ‘05 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4x4. The spare is structurally sound. Some sanding and a respray and it would look great...no center cap for it.
Four 32” Pirelli Scorpion A/T Plus LT265/75R17 tires...
I got mine in July as well. Probably 16 nights in it so far, with anywhere from me and a dog to me, my wife, and both dogs in it in some way. Plenty of room for the four of us in the tent on a cold night even with the insulation installed. On war,we nights, they sleep in the annex.
While the...
This right here! I can’t begin to remember the number of times I’ve had to call out, “Recall your dog!” Sometimes more than once...loudly...while out hiking with one or both of mine. “Oh! He/she is friendly!” “Cool...MINE AREN’T!” My female Malinois will ignore any dog that ignores her...
Small world, @Makit Worx ! That's the EXACT spot! I actually wanted one a bit further away from the gate to the reservoir, but stayed here due to its proximity to the Massanutten Trailhead right behind it. Great spot, though! I'll check out the FB post. I MAY be able to make it, but would...
Thanks...here's to a better '21 for us all! Since 8 June 2019 (when a seizure led to an ER visit, which led to the tumor's discovery) we've pretty much adopted a lifestyle of making hard lemonade out of some really sour lemons...more so than usual! HA!
Hey, everyone! While I have miles and miles under my belt...and knees...and ankles on the trail backpacking/camping/hiking, I'm new to the overlanding scene. The silver lining of this dumpster fire of a year was that I've had a ton of time to spend at home with my wife (who kicked brain cancer...
Greetings from Front Royal, VA! Just signed up, and am stoked to be part of the community. While an experienced backpacker/hiker/camper, I'm new to the overlanding side of things. During some downtime from work earlier this year, I decided to start mucking with my '18 Forester XT and got bit...
