Why do people have to justify their gear to you. Why cant you accept that others have different wants/desires than you? GTFO with this holier than thou attitude.
I bought an open over the bed rack because it was $300+ spray paint to finish it.
The rack+ tent is still lighter than a shell...
Not something I can justify spending that much for. If they were about half price of what they are now I may consider it. Just because I do enjoy cooking while camping.
If you have access to a welder you could make one for a fraction of the cost.
I have instead picked up a nice propane...
And that's what I thought about the east wood so I only wire brushed, then scraped, then washed, then degreased all rust before painting but it reapeared and bled right through it. I applied it on a warm yet not hot spring day with a relatively low humidity.
I'll check out this marine paint.
How much do I need to clean up the rust before painting? Do I need to have perfectly clean steel before applying? I just worry about the rust forming underneath again and the paint being so hard it goes unnoticed.
I'll give it a try
Initially when researching I heard POR15 required a lot of prep. I had also heard that the Eastwood required less prep and was a bit easier to apply. I still applied it to the manufacturers instructions and did all of the prep and even wore brushed the wprst spots but it...
I have a 2006 Toyota tundra. Only had a year but I am fighting rust on this truck. Nothing major. If I could get it under control it would not be a major issue but I have not been able to kill it.
I have 3 spots that concern me. 2 are on the frame by the rear wheels where the angle bump...
FWIW Montana fish and game does not see a "bear resistant" cooler chained to a tree as proper storage and you can still get up to a $5000 ticket for this. Yes I know CA is not the same as MT and grizzlys are a whole other issue compared to blackbears but it is worth noting for those that do get...
That is an awesome idea! I may have to upgrade ladders.
I had the roll pin that holds the pin "open" on the SB ladder fall out. I emailed them asking what size roll pin it was so I could replace it and they just sent me a whole new ladder but I may seriously consider upgrading to that...
Kind of a pain getting the 8 lb weenie dog into ours. Hate to have a bigger one lol. I mounted mine over the bed of my truck opening to the side so it couldn't climb through the window without dodging the supports.
Montana State fish and wildlife life says locking food in a hard sided car is OK. There's horror stories where people have been in areas where the bears know food is kept in cars and break in but I don't believe that will be the case most of the time.
I'm still unsure I asked this question on...
My local farm and ranch has small refillable ones but hold on. They cost more than going and buying a full 20 lb cylinder from local cylinder exchanges.
Thanks all. Looking at a map I don't think we want to go much further south than Flagstaff. Ideally north Rim is the furthest south but not much public land from what I am seeing. Wasn't sure what the Kaibab Forrest was like? We just don't want to push too far south and spend most of our time...
Thanks I'll check it out on the map. IDK how far south we want to go either. Probably not very far but if we can find solid camping it may be worthwhile.
Over memorial day we are going to spend 5 days and head to Southern Utah. I have not been down there since I was 8-9. Girlfriend has never been. We arent looking for peoples personal spots we just dont know where to look for land. Is pretty much all BLM/State/Forest land fair game? Excluding...
