I will watch this thread with interest. I am looking to bring my family to california next year or latest year after for 3 week vacation. I will be looking to rent a vehicle for a few days to try out some trails. Rest of the time will be spent in disney to keep the kids happy and maybe san fran.
you are more than welcome. I made pizza's on my trip to spain that went down very well, but I don't have a tempo tusk. Either way, it will be lovely and your friends will appreciate it. Chilli, curry and paella are also good options. All the best.
In England we cannot boondock as it is illegal unless you have the permission of the land owner. In Scotland it is allowed but then they do not have green lanes. They do have dirt tracks but you need the land owners permission to drive them. On my recent trip to Spain, we had to stay on camp...
Not sure if this has already been suggested, so apologies if it has. I have looked through every page and was truly impressed with a large number of photos. What about a competition which would see the winner photos being included in a calendar that we can buy from the site. We could all...
I have a few trips in mind. But the logistics would be tough anytime soon, i.e. having my land rover shipped across to the states in the first instance.
Like you, I want to go from the southern states, through California and Washington, up into Canada to Prudhoe bay, taking in Alaska. I...
I nearly mentioned these as I also watch some aussie channels. Thankfully for me, these are a no go. Whilst I see the benefit and can appreciate how quick they are to set up and take down, I suffer with mild claustrophobia and this would set me off big time. Had a quick read of this article...
Well, I for one am jealous you get paid to go out exploring and testing new kit. I read the article with great interest and recognise some of the kit that I also use. Your point in the article about overlanding evolving is very true. Here in the UK we do an activity called green laning, which...
I run general grabber ATs, but I am tempted to move to cooper LTZ next. Grabbers have been good, particularly off road but I fancy trying something different and my fronts are getting close to needing replacing.
Dont think its gonna happen, but I have to say I listen to lots of zombie audio books and Mark Tufo zombie fallout is by far the best. If you fancy a laugh as well as a good story, he is by far the best author out there. He is also American and an ex Marine.
Pandemic is what worries me. I...
I had already bought a new LR4 and a Range Rover evoque at the same time. Had some issues with the evoque so sent it back to Land rover and decided to buy an LR3 for cash specifically for work (my role changed so I was doing far more miles per year and needed something comfortable for motorway...
Absolute beauty. I keep having the defender itch and have so far stopped myself from getting one. Builds like this make me want one. If you get to the UK as part of your euro tour and are passing the midlands area, then feel free to contact me and we can meet up for a coffee so I can drool...
Hi Folks,
I hear Michaels message every time he releases a new video "it does not matter what you drive", and whilst we have some banter between us (particularly toyota and land rover owners), I see why he says it. In short, if you get up a mountain or over a desert, does it matter if it was...
Really good point - its surprising how much other kids will impact upon your own, almost like their enthusiasm and energy feeds off each other. The trick is bringing it to a close and getting them to calm down ready for bed. We find a good book is great for this whilst the kids are in bed...
I agree entirely. Whilst routine is important, if you don't give some time to the kids then they will cause mayhem. We are planning a trip around scotland called the north coast 500. Whilst it could be classed as an overlanding trip, it will not involve any off road tracks but coastal roads...
I have a mora knife which I take with me on camps - cheap and practically indestructible. Plus I always keep a leatherman in my recovery kit. In my camp kitchen I keep a global knife which i take from my house kitchen collection. I don't have anything that looks too tactical as it is begging...
I know this is largely a US based forum, but you maybe interested in the position in the UK. As you know gun ownership is very small based on the fact that the government and media have demonised it. This was after massacres like hungerford and dunblane. That said there is still an active gun...
I carry an intermediate kit, put together by myself with advice from a Doctor who works for me. I volunteered to be one of the first aiders at work and as such get up to 3 days training each year. It really is surprising just how quickly you forget what you have learned when you do not use it...
