The time has come for me to start looking for a new rig and I’d like some suggestions! I’d like something that can replace my two current vehicles (currently have a dedicated Overland rig and my daily for commuting). I’m looking at selling off both of my vehicles and buying one that I can use...
I’m out of the country for another two weeks but if this is still available when I get back I may be interested. Would you be willing to break up the awning/room and the roof basket? I don’t really need the roof rack.
As of right now I don’t. Depending on where people are coming from would probably decide the starting point. I know a couple good backcountry camping spots in the chattahoochee national forest so possibly spending the first night or two up in north Georgia and then moving on to North...
Looking at doing a 3-4 day trip in North Ga/TN/NC in Late April or early May. Would be doing some backcountry camping, hiking during the days, maybe some light off-roading and other exploring in between. I know a couple good spots in GA but haven’t explored too much in the other areas so would...
Interested in buying an ARB awning/room. Either as a set or separate (would prefer to buy the awning first but will take a good deal on a room if someone has one) I am located in central GA and would need to have it shipped. Looks like the 2000x2500 combo is going for around $500 total on eBay...
No big updates. Getting ready to head out for a 3 month trip abroad so doing more planning right now than anything else.
I installed a hood strut for the Jeep yesterday. Definitely helps with the heavy hood. I used a hatch strut I had leftover from my parts rig so there was zero cost for me...
That’s a good point. This whole project has been a series of trips down the rabbit hole. Haha.
I feel like what we’re really lacking at this point is space. The plan was always to sleep in the Jeep and I don’t think I want to steer away from that. We have an 80 pound doggo that I have no...
Did a driveway alignment today. My steering wheel was all kinds of off. Feeling like I definitely need a steering box brace because the steering on these XJ Cherokees is just super sloppy regardless of how many new parts you throw at it and how many times you align it..
I feel like I’m at an interesting point in my build. I’ve done all the little things. It’s running right, the lift is where I want it, and it’s useable as an overland rig, but now I’m faced with some tough decisions..
The next thing I want to do is upgrade the rear bumper. I need a true tire...
Glad to see more XJ owners on here! I have a 2000 built similarly to yours. I want your tent setup. Haha. It’s on my to do list down the road. Welcome to overlandbound!
Love grand cherokees! I’ve only seen a couple lifted with bigger tires but they look great.
I actually have the same steering wheel. I got lucky at the junk yard and they actually bolt right into the earlier Cherokees.
I agree on the CVT sentiments! They are terrible. When my wife started looking for a new smaller SUV we ended up with a compass, but the patriots are pretty nice too. I wanted one when they first came out. I'm excited to see where you go with this build.
