I've had my antenna blow out the rear window and in the pine barrens the antenna has to come off. The limbs are always low, many hit my light bar on the last trip. I've been doing a lot of thinking. The Aussie style mount is my best option, just need to as one of my local NJSP troopers
So I recently got a new(to me) 2 meter radio, an Icom IC2200H
I mounted it in the dash tray on my Xterra, it fits nicely.
I'm running an MFJ antenna on the roof but looking it a front bumper mount after I get the brush guard installed
I got to excited and couldn't wait anymore so I wired the new radio up
It's where I want it but have yet to mount it. IC2200H is a very nice 2 meter radio 65watt output is a good thing
Beautiful [emoji3] I love it!
Was talking with my dad(KB2EAH) at breakfast b4 the Hamfest yesterday about the influx of new Hams due to Overlanding, he asked what bands where being used. He suggested that HF be better for the mountains.
I've been wanting to get a 6 meters and 10 meters mobile...
Alan I wish 300 was in my ballpark, we are shoestring overlanders
One of the local Ham clubs is having a Hamfest on Sunday so I'll go look see what I might bargain for
