Easy-setup tent and cot recommendations please?

I actually bought the EastCot a few months ago but have been too busy with work to set it up, however I've heard nothing but glowing reviews of it. I'm a heavy guy and ground sleeping is definitely an issue!

Easy-setup tent and cot recommendations please?

I was just very surprised how big it is in the shipping box. Almost too big to fit into the Jeep (I haven't tried yet). No way I can fit it and all my other gear if I'm going with my wife, but solo it should be OK.

Easy-setup tent and cot recommendations please?

Well I finally found a Gazelle T4 and it's sitting in the box in my living room at the moment. Too late for this year (what can I say; I'm a wuss and don't like camping in the cold) but I plan to do a few solo trips next year.

    Ham radio

Late to the party here, but let me add my two cents as well. GMRS is like a fishing license. You buy it, it's good for 10 years and covers your immediate family. Some very decent quality affordable radios, both mobiles and portables, and if installed well, you'll get great range. But as...

US Southeast Planning our first trip

Hey all, I'm hoping to revive this thread if I might. Work commitments got the best of me all summer and I just couldn't get away. I have a (very) little time now, and I'm thinking about heading down next week (around Oct. 20th-26th, in that range) for a few nights of tent camping from my Jeep...

Propane conversion kit for Coleman white gas stove

Thanks!! That's exactly what I'm after. I gotta wonder why it's not in production anymore; seems like an excellent product.

Propane conversion kit for Coleman white gas stove

Yeah, that's the one. It's still showing as out of stock on stansport's website, though, and it's not on Amazon.

Propane conversion kit for Coleman white gas stove

I'm more about convenience and reliability, and naptha is neither convenient nor reliable. It (mostly) works but the PITA factor adds up after a few days on the road. I do love the lantern, but if that fails I have several Goal Zero USB-rechargeable LED lanterns that work well, and a string of...

Propane conversion kit for Coleman white gas stove

Your idea of "pretty easy" is vastly different than mine, I'm sorry to say. I fit into the category of "shouldn't be issued hand tools."

    Jeep WK2 Grand Cherokee questions

For downshifting on hills I love 'em. Ditto for twisty turny mountain roads.

Propane conversion kit for Coleman white gas stove

My 30-yo Coleman Stove is still chugging along, but until I can justify the cost of a JetBoil I'd like to convert this old girl to use 1# propane bottles. I find white gas to be a complete PITA, and often I just don't get much of a flame out of it, especially if the tank is less than half full...

    Jeep WK2 Grand Cherokee questions

Mine has the 8-speed and along with the 3.6 Pentastar that's a great combination. Very, very reliable. It also has a set of flappy paddles on the steering wheel, so I can paddle shift on blacktop if I want, or use them to control my speed if I have hill(billy) descent control engaged on the trails.

Easy-setup tent and cot recommendations please?

I have a Grand Cherokee (WK2) so I don't think size would be a huge problem, but the issue for me is that the T4 is just not available. I would really love a rooftop tent, but that's not in the budget, and for the few times a year we'd use it, it wouldn't be a wise purchase IMHO. Plus getting in...

Easy-setup tent and cot recommendations please?

Hi all, Last year my wife and I bought a gorgeous REI Basecamp 6 tent. It's absolutely wonderful, however there are going to be times when I'm out by myself and that will just be too much tent, and far too difficult for these old, fat, and creaky bones to setup and tear down every day. I had...

    Jeep WK2 Grand Cherokee questions

Mine is the 3.6 with the QT-II system and air suspension. I don't love the air suspension, and frankly that's its biggest weakness in terms of potential problems on long term off-grid travel. So far no problems, however, and the ELSD and OR1/OR2 heights have been enough for what I do with it. On...

    Jeep WK2 Grand Cherokee questions

I have a 2018 Trailhawk, modified up the wazoo for off-roading and this thing is a beast. Wrangler and Gladiator drivers are stunned when they see what it (and I) can do with it. But be aware of its limitations: 20 inches of water fording at most, lower ground clearance than you'd get in a stock...

Looking for a 4G to WiFi hotspot

In my case it will be for use exclusively within the United States, and for use while driving on the Interstate highway system in the east coast, usually within 250 miles of New York City. This won't really be for Overlanding, since the whole point of that for me is to get away from technology...

Looking for a 4G to WiFi hotspot

I would like to install a dedicated WiFi hotspot in my vehicle to connect our devices to when we're on the highway and in cellphone range. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee which has built-in WiFi, but unfortunately it's 5 GHz only, and I have one mission-critical device that's 2.4 GHz only (a ham...

    Ham Radio Field Day

I'd like to try a CrankIR from SteppIR sometime. I've heard good things about them, and they pack up small(ish). I sold my old IC-7000 and I'm a bit relunctant to take my K3s out of the shack but for a good mountaintip FD I'd give it a shot. Or I'll look into an IC-7300.

    Ham Radio Field Day

I'm the hired gun CW operator at W2LI (3A NNJ). Will run pileups for burgers--I'm the only CW op for that group. Bringing my Grand Cherokee and camping on site, but it's only 30 minutes from my front door. WX looked dicey earlier in the week but now the forecast is better. For 2022 I'd seriously...
