Justin, was yours z71 or no? did you have the max tow package?
Max tow and z71 both get lower gears and g80s, our 2wd has the max tow which gave us 3.73 and a G80 in ours. I think the gear ratio breakdown is in the manual, I'll have to dig it up but im like 99% sure she's gonna have 4.10's
Just. Rope. In general. As a tool, as a object as an underlying concept that ties us together as a.... ahh who am i kidding. I just use the stuff to pick up satellites.
Great point about synthetic throwing like rope. I'm usually out solo so something like that hadn't ever occurred to me, but then again I've been using steel for over a decade now on my trucks...
So I've seen a bit of back and forth on folks preference for winch rope... Not really saying which is better or not, but just throwing my experiences out and I'm curious what other experiences people have dealt with different cable types and with other winch tools. Blocks, clevises, slings...
A snatch block is going to be much more useful and safer as they hold up better, you can use them for heavy winching, they work with steel cable and they don't cause a ton of wear on a rope. A steel winch cable would destroy a ring fast.
These trucks are rated to tow close to 9k lbs, and its not because of the motor or the transmission. For the GMT800 trucks, the brakes and chassis are the biggest limiting factors. A bigger trans cooler helps if you're going to be off-road more IMO, but these trucks are stout and the engines in...
285's are fine on those trucks with a small leveling kit. You'll have to clean up some of the plastic on the bumper and inner wheel wells in the front. Getting better shocks and going through the suspension as all the bushings and tie-rod ends and all that stuff is prob shot while you do a...
Finally got around to getting some projects going... FIrst, the heep. I started measuring and planning a new overhead console for the jeep. Want some more switch space, more radio space and some better storage options. plus a place to put patches.
Next up is some stuff for the GMC....
Got...
G80's clunk, its a fact of life with em, lol, but I guess they have some not great clunking. The one in our truck is noticeable when it kicks in as its 2wd, but it tends to do it often and it stays engaged longer than with your truck i think.
hahahaha. Yeah. I need to look at the shock stuff a bit more for the rear fo-sho. I've seen them fail under load on the burbs and yukons... I started cutting metal for the front. All in all it should work out... You still running an overload on your rear pack or nah?
I'll have to crawl under it again to see if the bracket is bendable on ours... Not sure what to do with the truck shocks yet, prob something basic and rebuildable/revalve. like fox 2.0s or something else. Given how she drives, Well... yeah. you know the issues ahead of me :P
Thats not looking too bad at all, . Our sierra got some rear blocks to take the negative rake out, and well, We need another 4" of droop on the shocks, so this is doing really good! How's the brakeline and all that stuff looking as well?
I just went with LED headlights, LED fogs for regular driving and one pair of flood LED pods on the front bumper and a rear chase light. Works well enough for my needs. Cowl mounted and over head light bars and stuff just make tons of glare and aren't great for driving at night or in adverse...
I'm curious to hear how those UCA's hold up Justin... I've got a lot of music projects going but I'm going to try to dive into some of our truck projects here again in a bit. I started cutting steel for the coilover mounts for our sierra and UCA's are on the list to get as well.
hahahaha, I'm down kind of whenever. Pete is doing his Rubicon thing sometime, maybe in October, but I'm pretty much down whenever. esp if its a weekend, I do need to like, plan so if you want to start figuring out a date or something....
