My boss (CEO) has a ram megacab and he’s getting a kc roof rack with lights. He’s looking for a solid reputable shop near Ontario, ca to do the install, and asked me if I knew of a place. (He knows my rig is dialed lol). He wants a high quality job done, meaning no hack job creating roof leaks...
No mask & no rona, still here!
Truck is in 14 day quarantine :p jk getting a new head gasket... Ready for another meet up when she’s back up & running!
...I was starting to think the IE thread tested positive for covid lol.
Nice to hear from y’all!
It’s a 2004 4x4 with 196k miles on her. In diagnosing this coolant issue that started this whole thing, I did replace the radiator cap. Ya I’ve been scouring the t4r forums. I thought for a while that it was some other problem but the hydrocarbon test failing was the definitive answer indicating...
Hey all. Been busy at work and not a lot of time to address our issue but made some headway today so here’s an update...
Stop leak has not worked...
I spoke with the former Lexus tech today and he seemed knowledgeable and honest. It’s scary taking my baby to a new mechanic but excited to get...
Forgot to mention, they DID put stop leak in it when I picked it up last week so we are crossing our fingers that it will “fix” the problem for the time being. Haven’t drove it much since then so I may take it out to Elsinore this weekend and see if it finds its way to the leak.
I gotta say, I really admire the candor of everyone’s comments on this thread and you guys are amazing for offering your input with grace and honesty. Thanks for making this forum one of the best on the internets!
I will definitely take you up on that offer. I have to wait till Monday to move...
I have considered an engine/head replacement. However I have read some horror stories about buying Re manufactured engines having leaks upon install, and in my limited experience, cars have never run the same after replacing. Just too many unknowns with that option. I know my truck, and though...
I agree, this is a big job and the truck does have 198k miles on it so I don’t want to be dealing with any more problems down the road, so the “might as well do it while you’re in there” is the case for me.
About the parts markup, your explanation makes sense absolutely & I can see why they do...
Man I love the people on this forum!!
Thank you all for the advise!
Here’s the parts list and quote from my shop. They are a great shop and have spent about 3hrs on the phone with me after hours to go through every scenario and possibility of how to approach this repair either with them or...
Happy Independence weekend to all!! Celebrate with family and friends and thank God for blessing us with the greatest country in the history of the earth!
Sorry I haven’t been able to reply lately but here’s the final diagnosis:
Mechanic had it for a week and drove it roughly 180 miles and were finally able to reproduce the problem after a long drive & do some more tests. They checked the water pump like I said earlier and found no issues with...
Great comments by all on this thread! I tend to agree with parts of everyone’s perspectives on this. It ultimately seems like a “right tool for the right job” scenario & planning/safety are 1st, 2nd & 3rd always! As for seeing these applications in real life, I’ve been watching Xpedition...
I have to be honest here and admit my mistake. It seems I have jumped the gun here and I want to rectify my previous post...
Before I explain my ignorance, I’ll recap today...
I spoke with my mechanic for about 40 min. After reviewing what they had diagnosed and how they did it this is what...
