Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

Can't say that I'm aware of the "doing it for the gram" issue, or that I'm opposed to that being the motivator for people to get outdoors. Now overcrowding without the infrastructure/resources to handle it can be an issue. If you have links to those articles I'd be interested in reading them...

2016 JKU Rubicon Hard Rock - Jolene

Looking good so far. Redoing the USB stuff in the dash is on my list as well. I already covered the kids and the wife with some that I installed in each of the B pillars. I like how you did yours in the back of the center console.

Primitive Camping around Ouray, CO for FJ Summit in July

If quick access to town is our major concern, you should probably be looking at sites along Why 550 to the south (Google Maps in Sat view will show them). Any of the stuff on the trails would probably put you at least an hour out. There is not much in the way of dispersed camping lower down...

Who overlands for the purpose of photography?

Anyone out there doing overland trips where one of their main purposes is to capture images?

You can flip the Gobi rack up to lower a soft top and you can remove a hard top by sliding it out the back (with the Gobi ladders removed). I only have the hard top and have not bothered to take it off since the Gobi went on. I just pull the doors and freedom panels and roll like that. With...

Welcome to the site. I'm also from the CO Springs area (just moved from the Springs out to Peyton last Oct). I personally went with the Gobi rack, but the Frontrunner is nice as well.

@Road Thanks, I'll give some thought about how best to present the information and contact you directly about it.

Thanks @Road . I'm glad it could bring back memories for you as well. Detailed trip reports take a lot of time and effort to make up, but I kind of feel that is the point of sites like this. @Dapozer , How old is your son? I'm sure the two of you would have a blast. I'd be glad to help any...

    Three Generations in Death Valley.

Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling the rocks might have been at the south end, we just did not have the time to go searching for them :( Next time though! We did walk a ways out at Badwater, but there were a ton of people out there. I estimate more than 50 of them well past the half mile...

Day 6 - 29Mar18 Skidoo Mines / Furnace Creek / Echo Canyon Trip Time: 7:47 (0959-1747) Miles: 176 Average Speed: 22mph Knowing my dad would enjoy the old mining sites, I make it a point on this trip to explore the Skidoo mining area. It is remote and has many small and several large old...

Day 5 - 28Mar18 Bishop, CA / Pinion Mesa Trip Time: 5:56 (1032-1629) Miles: 140 Average Speed: 23mph After restocking on some food supplies and gassing up, we made the trip back into the park. Since we had lost a couple of days in Bishop, I decided to alter my planned route and stick to the...

    Three Generations in Death Valley.

The rest of the trail was a mix of hard pack and gravel. One other spot worth mentioning on this trail was a narrow section of road between a switch back. It had eroded some the width of my Jeep was pushing it. My dad and son got out to watch and dad said my passenger side tires were right on...

Day 2 - 25Mar18 Eureka Dunes / Steele Pass / Saline Warm Springs / Mechanical issue Trip Time: 6:30 (1108-1532) Miles: 46 Average Speed: 4mph In my initial plans Day 2 was supposed to be the longest day on the move inside the park, but I initially made some alternative stopping points because...

    Three Generations in Death Valley.

From the turn off for Scotty's Castle, Death Valley Rd becomes a mix of mild washboard and smooth dirt and packed gravel. That part of the road is very wide and that late in the afternoon there was no one traveling it but us, we were able to make some good time in this section. Once we hit the...
