Your black jku with that gobi rack looks pretty similar to mine here in FL
I will be planning a trip to visit the Treeline Outdoors guys here near the end over 2019. Pretty stoked to take our first Trans american trail trip starting April 2020. Would enjoy meeting a few of you on my trip up to...
My girl friend and I will be moving to Westminster CO in mid march. We should be settled in by the 18th of March. I am moving up from FL and would enjoy meeting other overland bound members. We explored Golden CO when visiting a while back, we loved that area. Let's keep this thread alive!
How did you figure you were going to secure the tank to the rear of the GOBI rack? I had this same idea for when I bought my mini propane tank. I think Power Tank sells aluminum tank holders that can somehow be bolted to the frame or ladder of the rack. I guess I would need to see it in person.
Selling my KC 50'' Light bar, brackets and complete wiring harness with switch since I got my Gobi rack mounted up. I am going a different route with overhead lighting.
Selling the entire package for $450.00 firm. It is all plug and play from KC. Take it or leave it.

I am using the Smitty XRC Synthetic 9500. This winch has been an absolute war horse out on the trails. I have even pulled a submerged & hydrolocked JKU on 40's out of a deep mud hole with it. This is by far a reliable means of recovery if I ever need to use it out on the trail.
I have stuffed three days worth of camp trash into a Trasharoo camping with 6 people. I would say thats sufficient enough space to rely on if heading out for a multi day excursion. It does fade but hell this aint no beauty contest. If it works it works!
Every ones got priorities while out on the trial. Some of mine are:
1. Healthy natural stash of food
2. 5 star chef from Del Friscos
3. Napkin for my lap as I sit around the camp fire eating my 12oz. fillet minion
Awh man this looks epic! I am actually moving to CO in March this year and would like to find out where spots like these ones are. That is some talented photo work!
I would not recommend filling an air mattress with hot water. For 1. Mold will form over time inside 2. If in freezing areas that hot water will freeze up and have you frozen to a block of ice int he middle of the night. I mean how does one find that much hot water any ways?
Thankfully I have never had to deal with a severe off-grid situation lately. I have stumbled upon others in sever vehicle trouble in which I had offered assistance at the time.
I occasionally find myself stuck in very remote places, however had always found a means to get out and back on the...
I may pick up a few of those Plano boxes for when I move out to CO. I could always use them for my overland excursions as well. Right now I am using Front Runner totes inside for my gear and necessities.
This decision is completely up to you.
I went with the Gobi rack since they are genuine looking safari racks with loads of purpose. These Gobi racks can be found used online for about half the price sometimes if you are lucky. I found my Gobi used (2 years old) for $700.00. Saved 60% + on the...
Here is the setup I have in my JKU.
Vector Offroad JKE Dash Bar.
Ram Mount for the cell phone and one for the iPad
Will be purchasing the Garmin InReach Explorer mount too soon
Overall very pleased with the fitment and works perfect for my needs.
Is one greater than the other after all?
One may argue the production derives from the experience anyway. The other will argue that the constant seeking of production value has interrupted the genuine experience of the journey.
I had a long discussion with my mate a few days ago about this...
Solid! I appreciate the write up. I am looking to get knees deep into HAM and becoming certified in my area. Radio's are a bit foreign to me however I am quick to adapt to new hobbies. Pretty excited to communicate and listen from around the world.
I am no friggen scientist however I can tell you that a Co2 tank is going to suite you better than a battery driven air compressor. For 1. The tank will hold more than enough Co2 for you and your friends out on your multi day excursion. 2. It's cheap as hell to refill + many places to refill out...
