    suspension

I cant speak specifically to your platform but it should be noted that real coilover suspension systems (ie. Fox, King, Radflow, Icon, etc), while amazing and capable, do require semi-regular maintenance in the 30k mile range that can significantly add to the cost if you do not do your own work...

An idea I had awhile ago.. Possibly would be an interesting outing?

That's how I was imagining it as well. Lowest score wins at the end. While just for fun, I suppose recording gpx waypoints of stops and tallying supplies would be necessary for any sort of true bragging rights. Some way to verify results for posterity basically

    03 Suburban 2500

I'm personally a huge fan of those 2500's. Not given enough credit for being damn near bulletproof. Great choice.

An idea I had awhile ago.. Possibly would be an interesting outing?

Very fun idea. I think a "penalty" system would be necessary tbh. In general we think of old beat-up junkers from yesteryear as a dime a dozen. But in reality, it takes a significant investment to acquire and maintain those older vehicles these days. It would limit the fun to a small subset of...

    Chevy Silverado

@ThundahBeagle Yeah, they're PowerStop's. We use them at the shop as an upgrade over OE for customers who regularly warp rotors (1/2 tons, Honda Pilots, Siennas, etc). They wear nice and stop even better if they get broken in correctly. My truck has drum brakes in the back (an intentional...

    Chevy Silverado

Figure I may as well get in on this. Not much for goodies as I'm more of a minimalist of sorts (see: Cheapskate). And am a hiker and hammocker by nature. 2008 Half ton w/ 6.5' bed and the MP3023 Tcase (Auto 4wd). 5.3 and 4l60e. Purchased used in 2011. Partner and I tend to use her Honda...

What did you name your rig?

@Downs No doubt. For me, the naming thing is personal. It helps anchor the work and love I put in.

What did you name your rig?

Named my truck "Serenity". Ain't the most well endowed rig in the verse, but she'll surprise you.

Where Do You Refuse to Compromise?

As stoves go, I think it has more to due with preference and intended use rather than price. Do you need something ultralight for hiking or just compact enough for limited cargo space? Do you see the appeal in a full propane oven to go with your Dometic fridge or are you cool with cold cuts and...

High vs low gear count transmissions

My biggest issue with 6+ speed transmissions is the programming. Proper tuning makes all the difference. Never trust the manufacturer to choose your gear for you.

    Forum loading issue

@Michael Thanks for taking a look. I have been unable to see many pages within the forums. To the point where I'm back to the browser version more often than not. If you need more examples, let me know.

Kayaks - Inflatable, Rigid, Folding. . . whaddya have and how do ya like it?

@smritte For the time being, we do not. Fishing isn't a regular activity for me, so the added stability of the drop stitch didn't seem necessary. I may consider it in the future, as it will stiffen up the middle of the boat and keep it from sagging when carried by two people. But for 250 bucks...

Kayaks - Inflatable, Rigid, Folding. . . whaddya have and how do ya like it?

No doubt. Being inflatable, the #50 is much easier to carry on my shoulder after its inflated as its easier to handle and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to carry it that way for a moderate portage. Transportation is a little different as it packs into bag about 1.5 standard duffel bags long...

Kayaks - Inflatable, Rigid, Folding. . . whaddya have and how do ya like it?

I know the OP already made a decision but I figured I'd throw my hat in on Advanced Elements for anyone else in the market. Researched extensively for months and my partner and I decided the Advanced Frame Convertible would suit our needs well. It's a 15 footer set up for tandem at the...

Where Do You Refuse to Compromise?

Compromise is part of the game. It depends on use, need and budget. The bigger the purchase, the less I compromise (if that makes sense). Like a progressive rate on my standards. Examples: I wear $250 work boots, but $20 sneakers with $40 insoles. >Boots are for protection first (need) and...

    Air Lift

They hold up well enough as long as they aren't empty. I believe theres a minimum 5psi limit. Its common to have slow leaks after install as well as having some develop later on, so its important check your pressures regularly and address leaks as you find them. When they're left empty, they...

    Points accrual/Trophy Completion

Some of it is automatically updated and some needs review and authentication. Also, I've found the app doesn't show the most recent achievements, but the browser version does. I assume it's not a high priority for the tech guys at the moment.

Toyota owners, I need your help!

If I'm in the timing set, I will at minimum replace the chain tensioner(s). Too important and inexpensive to skip in my book. Guides, chains, sprockets, etc can be checked for wear and replaced as needed. At that mileage having the machine shop do the stem seals is the right call. Again, bit...

    Forum loading issue

It started just before the July 8th and 10th releases. Random pages within the forums will not load. Its generally the last few posts, but occasionally it will be a page in between. Reboots and uninstalling have not worked so far, though I will keep trying. Samsung galaxy A10E Android version...

    1998 OBS Tahoe

As far as recommendations go, the best upgrade I made to my GM was replacing the factory Gov-loc (G80) in the rear 10 bolt.
