What kind of overlanding do you do?

Wow. Pretty much the same checkboxes, just spent half my 20 in the Corps sleeping in a tank (much drier... usually). Kept it up after that doing in search and rescue. Went straight to the 40' diesel for 12 years, and now have a (drum roll....) truck camper! Yeah, might be an age thing but I sure...

What will the Expedition features cost? Edit on 10/6/21: So, at least $70 per year is what I glean from the "Investment Opportunity" info. Correct?

    Nature Photos

Is that the tent camp at Wonder Lake? Nice that the mountain wasn't hiding behind clouds for you! We waited 4 days for it to come out in 2006. Really like the shot of the airplane on, what, a glacier? Nice!

That looks like a Chuckawalla - just pretty pale. I'm used to seeing them with more browns and reds. He's definitely got the Chuckawalla stink eye going! Nice photos, very nice!

Overland Bound Map in off-line use?

Maybe it is time to ask the 64-dollar question and ask about the dollars, i.e., what is this going to cost?

Say, Boort, those are very nice photos - lots of detail!

I like the effect a lot! Is your string of lights 12v DC or 110 AC through an inverter? Would it be possible to dial down their intensity a tad to reduce the blown out spots? I will definitely be trying variations of this photo -- very nice!

Probably should have mentioned I shoot exclusively in RAW. I don't use Lightroom anymore since I dropped the Adobe subscription model and bought a non-subscription Photoshop Elements. That gives me access to the most recent Adobe Camera RAW and Bridge is still free to download and use. If I...

I export from Adobe Bridge to jpeg at 100% resolution, 40% size for most. The really large ones I've had to go down as far as 25% on the size.

Late April on the Paria Plateau, Vermillon Cliffs Nat'l Monument. Nikon D600, 14mm, 20 sec, f/2.8, 1600 ISO. Used a single Accmor LED mini balloon light mostly buried in the sand. Light on the horizon is likely Page, Az. We'll be going back when we can get a night with a little bit of...

Overland Bound Map in off-line use?

Wondering if the possible off-line capable Overland Bound mapping app is still going to happen?

Why apologise? It works for you, so I say, "Enjoy!".

What kind of overlanding do you do?

Our 3500 Ram/camper combo is diesel 4x4 so we can follow the dirt roads well past where the high clearance 2x4 vehicles turn around. We don't push into technical with this rig -- did that for years with the proper vehicles but interests just changed. We like short 1-week trips exploring off the...

Hi... Didn't want to put you on the spot publicly about the off-line maps. Any news? You had mentioned this capability might become available in August and I guess it's been delayed? Bryan

    Portable power

We got ours at REI. When (after warranty expired) the battery started going south (swelling), we went to Interstate Batteries and got a replacement which we installed ourselves without any trouble. Went that route because read some negative comments about ordering a replacement battery through...

    Portable power

I know I'm late to the decision, but wanted to throw in I run my cpap (w/0 humidifier on) on a Yeti-150. It goes one night easily and I re-charge it the next day with solar if in camp or via 12-volt if driving.

    Which Paper Maps are Best???

We've always been fans of the Benchmark map books which, like the Delorme series, come one per state. Neither Delorme or Benchmark are real good at the close-in work but for 90%+ of mapping needs, they do the job.

If you're even *thinking* about enough comfort to entice your wife, think about truck campers. Here are some info/ratings to get you started: Truck Camper Rankings Archives | Truck Camper Adventure

    Overland trip

If you take the backroads through Colorado, spend the night at Lizard Head Pass on State Route 145 - there's a BLM area that allows dispersed camping. Here's a sample photo of the view from our campsite:

Severe Over-Land "Trail Rash", do you say; "oh no", or "who cares"?

Been living with desert pinstriping on our vehicles for years. Goes with the territory! "Only" four months old vehicle? It had to happen sometime. Reminds us of a friend years ago who brought home a brand new jeep. His wife walked out of the house, looked it over, said, "Yeah! Sweet!"... and...
