    Stupid cheap rear-facing camera

Yeh the video was in Harrison at the top of Long Lake, we are living in Naples for another month so at the south end. End of the month we will be moving back up to the Bethel area. Likewise, if you get up this way and need anything, lemme know.

    Stupid cheap rear-facing camera

Thanks! The GPS does still work (mapping too, if you first download the map as an offline map from Google). I'm using another iPhone 5c as a dashcam, that way I can still stream music and get calls on my "regular" phone without interrupting the recording. Skip to the 12:30 mark to see what app...

Running trails solo as an overlander

From the Department of Redundancy Department. I agree. Can never have too much backup :).

Anybody else out there do their own body work and paint their vehicles themselves?

I've done a few driveway jobs with a little pancake compressor and HF gun. I find it kind of fun :)

    Where do you work.

Live in rural NW Maine, have worked remote for about 10 years. There's lots of places to get out and explore in this area, hopefully one day work will slow down enough so that I can :)

US East New Hampshire Class VI Roads and Trails

Oxford County, ME (Stoneham\Waterford) this morning. Some places all the trees are turning, other spots hardly anything. Lowlands here, lake region. Agree, get out to peep soon if you are going to do it. It will be short this year and suspect some will go from green to bare very quickly.

with the severe drought we are having (my well has been critical for 13 days so far, do a rain dance!),wouldn’t surprise me if this year is a fast one. I suspect the white maples I have won’teven turn, just shed. That’s what happened last year and this year the water situation is worse. TL:DR -...

US East New Hampshire Class VI Roads and Trails

I'm about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburg (western Maine). 30% sounds about right, we are at maybe 20%, the oaks are turning but the maples haven't yet.

    Crossover or mid-size SUV recommendation

I had a 2018 Forester, the umph is miles better than my sons 2013 (the 2018 2.5 with CTV). Loved it onthe road, visibility is amazing, didn’t have it long enough (2 weeks) to test its off-road chops, the seats were HORRIBLE. 90 minutes and both the better half and myself were in pain. Sent it...

US East New Hampshire Class VI Roads and Trails

Thanks for posting that, though I'm not sure on some of those. Garrison Rd in Dover - AFAIK - is maintained since Garrison Elementary School is on it as well as at least a dozen houses, an assisted living center, and has both a condo association and a private Christian school off it. Tuttle Rd...

Windshield in, tuned up, vacuum leaks hunted down, cranked the torsions to 25.5 degrees out back, just the right lift I think. Cannot wait time get tagged and rolling.

FedEx lost my windshield so while trying to source another one, I finally wrapped up the last of my electrical upgrades. Final step is some wire organization, will plug away at that this week. Big thanks to a member on the Samba (former Superwinch engineer) for sharing his knowledge and...

Getting closer to on (and off) the road, got the SMP points from NAPA to replace the 25,000 mile set of Blue Streaks that we’re in there. Yeh, think they had seen better days. Pulled distributor, installed and gapped the new points to .016, dwell was a whopping 84. OUCH. Was going to pull...

    Do you carry bolt cutters?

I have bolt cutters but I don't carry them in my overland rig, they are in my daily. So, no, the point would not be moot. Not making an assumption that you have them or not, that's why I asked. They are heavy, which is my point of asking. The set I have tips the scales at 27lbs, the same as 4.5...

    Do you carry bolt cutters?

Good point. I would add, has the OP picked up a pair of bolt cutters that could do the job of going through a hardened hasp, they are not light. I could think of a couple of more frequently used items to carry for that weight.

I took them to another tire shop and got them done this morning. Before: After: Though I think I like it better with the hubcaps on. Also going to bump the rear up a tiny bit on this side, has to go up about an inch on the driver's side to even out, but I'll wait until I get my new...

What did you name your rig?

Thanks, it definitely is a labor of love :). Prices are dropping because of the economy tanking, might still find a decent deal out there.

I contemplated going to 15" but I don't have a machine shop local to open up the center hub to fit a late Bay so stuck with 14" for now :(

Arrived today but can't get them mounted where I bought them so I'll do it myself and then take them to VIP to get balanced. Achilles Desert Hawk XMT 27/8.5R14. I like the look of them, hope they look good on the bus.
