I recently saw that method in this thread. I usually just fold and try to distribute it evenly. Next time I fold I’ll try out the method, but with the new cover I don’t think it will be an issue regardless.
Update on the cover. I emailed OVS on Saturday and by Monday morning Sean already replied and had the replacement cover in the mail! Customer Service is outstanding with them. Came home today and saw the box at the front door.
Overall install is really easy, but you have to take off the awning...
With the X-Cover, I actually found it easier to have the ladder not in the tent. It helped with the setup as I would use the ladder to unzip/unbuckle the tent.
With all this downtime, I did a check up on my truck and notice my awning cover was coming apart at the seam near the zipper. I contacted OVS and I'm hoping I'll get a replacement bag under warranty.
Came home from work to my new Dometic CFX3 55IM on my front porch. REI had their annual 20% member's coupon, and with the dividends I built up, it came out at a pretty good price. Just fits in the back passenger side so I still have 4 people in the truck. Can't wait for this quarantine to end to...
Quick update. I was able to sell my X-Cover and find a good deal on a Skycamp 2.0 Rocky Black. Installed it on the truck and it looks great! Immediately saw an increase in mpg, but will probably confirm with the next full gas tank. Can't wait for this quarantine to end so I can go camping again.
Saw this ad on instagram for a Ramp. Really clever idea and someone could probably create the same thing at home. For now, will probably just carry my 50 lb pup up until I get too old to lift her since it's a little pricy. link
Valid question.
Part is quality, part is things that make different tents unique. You'll generally see hard top on the higher side due to the materials used. Soft Roof Top Tents will be on the cheaper side, but durability won't be the same and usually takes longer to setup. The X-Cover is kind...
This popped up on my Instagram feed and am kind of intrigued by it. Just thought I would share. Kind of intrigued and seems like an interesting idea:

Mine is on my rack, but don't think its 7' up. A stool helps a lot so your arms don't get tired. Sometimes I use the ladder from my RTT. I'm not quite sure about buying the bag separately or if they even started on a the Gen2 because I didn't communicate with them after that. Overall still...
I had the same issue with mine. I actually emailed him some feedback and he said Gen 2 was being designed with a slightly larger bag.Wonder if that did get implemented.
