I've just been talking with their support staff today about an issue I saw. They still seem to be supporting it even if they haven't updated it in a long time.
I don't know that I'd be able to pull it off, but the thought occurred to me that it would be fun to convoy with other overlanders from the PNW to Overland Expo West, and potentially growing our convoy along the way. Anyone have such a convoy already planned?
Pemmican.
I make Nori Pemmican for backpacking which I keep stowed in my Hill People bag on my chest. It keeps me going for hours without having to stop to refuel. If you're fat-adapted you'll be able to keep this handy and drive all day without getting hungry.
I don't have an answer for you, but thought I'd mention that so long as you have a phone with tethering as part of your data plan, and it's always with you whenever you're driving, you don't really need GPS/Cellular in the iPad. You can just pair them with Bluetooth and use the data connection...
I've been using Hema Maps and like it pretty well. Recording tracks keeps a lot of data. They hadn't updated the app for a long time, but finally did and now it works well on my iPhone 8.
Not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, but figure I'd probably find the most people interested in electronics and audio equipment here.
I have a '96 Hummer with a Clarion tape/CD changer/radio head unit that has died. If I could find something that could still operate the CD...
Yup, that was it. Good to bump into you again. Maybe we'll see each other on the trail one of these days. Do you ever get over to the Olympic Peninsula or up into BC?

I bought these for my 1996 Hummer, but I do not like the way they handle on pavement. If you live in western WA I would be willing to meet you halfway. Anywhere else and you'd need to arrange and pay for shipping.
Tires have about...
Very cool. I like working with event driven systems, but for right now the request/response mode of OBD-II should be all I need. I'm going to have a configuration where I have something like the code and frequency that I want to know about it. One thing I've been interested in lately is how my...
Very cool project, Brien. I'll give your project talk a view later. What made you want to dig into the CAN bus? Did the OBD-II interface not give you access to something you wanted?
Interesting platform. I've looked at a few Raspberry Pi systems, but haven't really found anything I like for my application. In this case I don't really want a box sticking out from my OBD-II port, although I could probably relocate it using an extension cable.
The other issue is that the...
Looks like that is going to be amazing! Keep that fat around, though. Great for all kinds of things from gravy to flavoring other leaner meets like game.
Cheers!
