Quick little update. Added an RJ45 ethernet connector to my coin tray and connected an ethernet cord from the connector to the base unit. Now I just open up the arm rest, plug in the mic to the connector, and close it for a nice clean look.
After installing the MXT275 in my center arm console, I had to make a modification so that I can still use the coin tray with my F-150. I got the idea from Midland's blog (here good write up for 5th gen 4Runner owners who want to hide their's in the glove compartment). I bought a ethernet...
Needed a project since we are stuck in quarantine, so I installed the Midland MXT275 with the lip mount and 3db gain ghost antenna. Overall, install was straight-forward, but still took awhile. I put the antenna on the driver side hood and routed the wire through the large rubber grommet on the...
I'm planning small trips for the immediate future. Right now, I'm working routes for Big Sur, Coyote Flats, and the Mojave Road. These trips are mainly for Labor Day weekend and Memorial Day (if quarantine is over by then).

I used handheld GMRS but just bought an MXT275. I like it since I can hide the radio and just pull out the mic when I need to...
Welcome! I remember doing my CERTX at Hunter Liggett. Water crossing in an overweight HMMWV and attempting to recover them was an interesting experience ha.
If you are going 80 miles a day, I would stick with the AT. You are spending quite a bit of time on the road. I love my Wildpeak but I'm hearing more issues with them since they switch production to China. There is a thread somewhere about it.
