I’m interested in doing all of New England and possibly NY eventually. I am new to off roading so it would be great to have company. I’ve car camped, kayak camped and backpacked so being in the backcountry is not new to me but off roading is.
I’m also interested in doing the Puppy Dog Trail so...
If anyone is doing any of the New England Backcountry discovery route this summer and would like to meet up let me know. I am very interested and probably will be doing at least some if it this summer.
I might try that when I get my truck squared away. It’s still in the shop. Hopefully I get it back tomorrow. I used to own a 1990 Toyota 22RE extended cab 4x4. Wish I hadn’t sold it but I used the funds to meet my daughter in Italy when she was finished studying abroad in Morocco. My first time...
I know how to jump start a car and I plan on learning how to change a tire. I also know how to check the oil put oil in and charge a battery. I think I can learn about fuses but I doubt I’ll ever learn to really work on my car at this stage of my life. As an almost 60 year old woman I know what...
I have the exped Megamat and it is very comfortable. If you want something a little more compact but still very comfortable try out the sea to summit Etherlite XT. The large women’s version is 25x72. It’s 4 inches thick with a air coil like top. They have a winter one too which ups the R value...
Thanks,
Yes the best way is not to get stuck on the first place. If in doubt and if you don’t feel comfortable turn around. I feel like a shovel and traction boards can rescue you from most situations.
Thank you this was very helpful. I was on a trip last summer with my other vehicle a 2006 Highlander, not off road, and I heard this awful noise. Turned out the plastic shield that covers the bottom of the vehicle had cracked and was hanging off hitting the wheel. I fixed it with duct tape. That...
Yeah I really don’t know anyone to go with. It will be a while before I can go anywhere with all the snow here. Also my truck is in the shop. It needs $1500 worth of work to pass inspection and be safe to drive. It’s an older vehicle a 1999 Tacoma and it will be a budget build. I looked up...
Thanks for your reply. I did look but there really isn’t any class available near me. They only have professional mechanic classes. I live in rural NH and even closer yo the major cities like Manchester, Concord and Nashua I didn’t find anything. Manchester is over an hour from me. I appreciate...
I’m new to off roading and I’m in the process of getting my truck fixed and setting it up for some camping trips. I’ve watched a lot of videos about what tools abs recovery gear to bring but I can’t find much training on these topics unless you’re willing to spend on $300 on a weekend training...
I just saw this thread. I know it was from a while ago but I’m in NH near the VT border. I would like to do the Appalachian Byway or the Trans. I just bought a 99 Tacoma with shell that I’m converting into a little camper. After mud season it would be nice to meet up with some folks. I hav f not...
I’m in NH and would love to do a meet up when the weather gets better. I only have a Highlander so I can’t do technical trails but I’m good on dirt roads and forest roads. I have camping gear so I’m ready to go.
