Took the doors off and sanded them along with the door jams. Needed new hinge bushings anyway. Got them primed, color, and cleared. Didn't take much for pictures this time.
Took a fair bit of time but I managed to get it done this weekend and it turned out pretty good.
We have an old arb 2500 I think. Works well enough for the money. But cumbersome to deploy and put away so it really only gets used when stationary for the night. We'd like to step up to a free standing type. It would get used more then.
Didn't do too much with it this winter. At least nowhere near what I wanted to. Spent too much time remodeling 3/4 of my basement. After putting 1500 lbs of tile down I decided to take a break and play with the kids. But hopefully now back on track. Kids want to go exploring in it.
I've managed to make a little progress the last few days. I sanded and prepped the core support for primer.
Then epoxy primer and some seam sealer for extra insurance.
Then it was time for 2 coats of color and 2 of clear.
Then on to the underside of the hood. Apparently no before or...
Last year we picked up a fridge finally and the wife loves it on trips and random adventures. But being in the back of an F-250 she is tired of climbing into the back every time she wants something. So it was time to make a slide. And for some silly reason I decided to make it out of as much...
I decided to clean up the wiring a little bit and add a fuse panel in the back. I picked up a blue sea fuse panel with negative bar as well. I wanted less connections on the battery so it would be quicker to remove if the space is needed for normal use. I used the panel as a template to drill...
Had a little time for the bronco again. Decided to sparay lizard skin sound deadener in the doors before closing up the openings I made for repairing the lower part of the doors.
While cleaning the area up to weld the pieces I cut out I got the bright idea to make it a removable panel so I...
2003 ford f250 diesel. I get 16.5 daily driving 40 miles a day. mixed in town and out. Loaded with family and camping gear for 10 days and a steady speed on highway it will get close to 18.5. We averaged 18 on a 2200 mile trip through South Dakota, Wyoming, And into western Colorado then...
I've had excellent results with headlights by wet sanding with 800 grit, 1000 grit, 1500 grit, then cleaning with iso alcohol. And the last step is to spray with automotive 2k clear coat.
Started like this.
And after 6 years they still look like this.
I would buy a repair manual for your specific vehicle. And as others have said begin with learning about your vehicle. Where are the fluid checks and fill points. Where are all the fuse boxes and relays located. Even without considering overlanding maintenance is key to a long and less...
The wife came out to lend a hand getting the engine and trans bolted back together and resting in the bronco again.
I'm glad to see it back where it belongs.
Trans is still grungy but it is back in mainly for mock up and to hold engine in correctly. I plan to take care of some upgrades...
Time for some work on the valve covers and some of the engine brackets. I cleaned them up good and then sandblasted them to clean the old corrosion and paint off. Then cleaned again and degreased.
Some primer on. I used a ppg epoxy primer that is made to stick to aluminum on these...
Did this earlier this fall but have been busy lately. Cleaned up the engine and prepping for some fresh paint. only about 38,000 miles on it. So just some paint and updates.
Cleaned up and scuffed almost ready for paint.
Fresh coat of primer and same black paint as the frame.
I...
Back on the Bronco a little. Front Calipers are ready and installed. I had some paint left from doing my valve covers so I painted the calipers as well.
And some nice extended stainless brake lines.
I've run the Tekonsha P3 for about 5 years in 2 different trucks. It's proportional and very easy to adjust. I've used it on 1700 lbs popup camper, 8000 lbs tandem axle enclosed, and loads over 9500 lbs on my flatbed. Easy and quick to adjust from empty to loaded trailer and from trailer to...
Bed is a little over 6.5 feet. The awning is around 8 feet I believe. Thanks, it turned out pretty good for a rush paint job. Depending on if you put much on yours I'd see about running a bar or something underneath the cross bars and tucked up close to the mounts and attach the awning there...
