We recently used our XV2 trailer as a basecamp at SCARR2018 in Texas. 500 miles of highway and off-road driving was a dream with the XV2. Even though the loaded weight isn't anywhere close to 3,500 lbs, I use a brake controller in my Land Rover LR4. That makes a huge difference controlling...
I won’t lie, I certainly love having my Trail Kitchen King Charles chuck box with the sliding utensil drawer. I’ll admit that I don’t have the skills to build anything even close to that quality, especially out of aluminum. So the $300 I spent on that was well worth it just to make my wife happy...
My wife and I just did a 5-day trip for a Rover Rally in Texas. Sticking to Keto was actually pretty easy. We eat a pretty good breakfast that consist mostly of eggs and meat. We stressed about having quick items for lunch on the trail, but it really wasn't a big deal. We mostly snacked on...
If it works for you, then why change it? I've seen guys throw a lot of money at Pelican and aluminum cases and still have a crappy, inefficient system. If you feel like you spend the majority of your time setting up/tearing down or looking through totes to find something, then it might be time...
I whipped up a simple load plan for my XVenture trailer. I also like to take pics once everything is packed. 4-5 days later when you break down basecamp, you forget how it all fit in there.

Leaving Kansas City area early May 16. Stopping for the night at the KOA in Las Vegas, NM. Leaving early May 17th. Plan to arrive at Ft. Tuthill early Thursday afternoon. Strictly highway driving caravan just to get there, no off-roading involved.

I tried to get a reserved campsite when I registered, but they were all taken. I’m going to try to get there early on Thursday to get a good spot. I would definitely like to be close to other Rocky Mountain OB members.

Very nice, organized setup! Sorry if this is off topic, but is that a bottle jack on the floorboard next to the Alu-Box? I no longer pack my Hi-Lift and I'm looking for a good bottle jack as a replacement. I would be interested in what brand you are using.
I recently picked up the Yeti Panga 100 for storing my sleeping bags, pillows, and woobie (poncho liner) on the trailer roof rack. Those items absolutely must stay dry, or the wife will quickly put an end to the adventure! The North Face bag has the RTT annex, shower tent, CCGear Multimats, and...
I love the container store! When I'm looking for smaller, clear plastic containers to go inside larger containers, they have the best selection. Office Depot/Office Max also has some really good small plastic containers with locking lids.
Like many of you here, I'm a container geek and I've used everything from <$10 plastic totes to >$300+ Pelican and Alu-Box cases. I live in the Midwest and moisture is always a factor when packing. I've ruined gear and had some soggy camping experiences. Let's just say that I've acquired a lot...
I saw where someone modified the lower part of an immersion blender to work with a cordless drill. I always have my Ryobi cordless drill and impact driver on the trail with me, so it’s not like I would be packing a uni-tasker device. I’ll post up some pics/video if it works.

I've been waiting for a nice, sunny day to get the trailer prepped for future trips and play with some new toys. I'm really liking the Overland Solar 120 Watt folding panel! I also had a chance to setup my Trail Kitchens King Charles Chuck Box and Alu-Box pantry. The water tanks on the XV2 were...
I’ve got a Hi-Lift that I carried for years with my Hummer H2 and H3. They had nice big D-rings that you could use for lift points. Now my rig is a Land Rover LR4. Other than the trailer hitch, there’s nothing non-plastic to grab onto with a Hi-Lift. Bottle jacks are so much more practical and...
