Spent the morning doing front and rear diff fluid change and transfer case change. Plugs came off fairly easy. Didn't get to do front diff as I didn't order enough fluid.
Fluid was fairly dark. I really hope it's been changed before. 120,000 miles

I am by no means an expert but I did have a Tahoe at one point that I took off road a fair amount. My advice would be don't make it any bigger and taller than it has to be. My Tahoe was completely stock and I was constantly dinging body panels and replacing side mirrors because I was riding...
Interesting. I'm definitely throwing this into my list as an option for my build. I don't know that I want to spend the $ on a whole bumper replacement but I love the idea of getting spare up and having a place to mount things. Thanks for the insight.
Jose,
Definitely look me up when you get headed this way. I'm in Spring Hill and I'm happy to assist anyway I can ahead of or during the move. I know that's no fun.
I'm definitely up for some exploring and camping as well.
Cheers

I was really against the Trailer idea when I first looked into overlanding. I can already see that I will probably end up with one especially with two kids. I'm really interested to see where this goes for you. How much did you pay for the trailer as is if you don't mind me asking.
I'm on a limited budget with two very young kiddos so I am afraid to get into needing upgraded UCA's and all that mess. I want to do extensive traveling but I doubt I'll find myself on the rubicon with this rig.
Steve,
Thanks for your advice. It is the same 120 platform as the 4th gen 4Runner however I do think your right about it being a bit tougher to fit those bigger tires.
I'm leaning towards a 275 with a very mild 1.5-2 inch lift with the goal their mainly to level the current rake out and get...
I should mention first that I am 100% sure this discussion has been had 1,000 times amongst some of you but I'm brand new so take some pity on me. :tearsofjoy:
I've mentioned in other threads that i'm fairly new to overlanding. I have a fair amount of experience in the general off road realm...
Isn't the Trans-American east to west only? So you'd have to do some pavement driving one way or the other. I'd still like to do some of it. I'm actually heading up to southern WV for a wedding in July and have been wanting to research how I might could make it interesting. I'll have to check...
Yep it's a 2009. I've really liked it so far other than the timing belt/water pump change. I'm trying to decide on tires/lift right now.
I really haven't gotten a chance to explore much but I did order the map for the Tennessee Dirt Devil. Have you done it?
Hi there!
I'm down near Spring Hill/Thompson's Station. I've always been involved in some type of off roading even if it was just getting to the duck pond. I have a young family as well that is just getting into overloading.
There seems to be a lot of people in this area surfacing. Look...
