    03 Suburban 2500

Howdy neighbor. I am also in Loveland. I am planning a get together at my place for bbq in the near future if you are interested.

    Overlanding suspension?

Skids and recovery points coupled with recovery equipment first. For overlanding, flex is overrated. Clearance is nice but skids and attention to line make up for a lot.

    Colorado in October?

If you head this way, check in. I am on the way to RMNP.

    Colorado in October?

If it is open, do Fall River Road. Can be run in any higher clearance vehicle. If you want something more challenging, try Coney Flats via Camp Dick. With the current state of the fires, I would be surprised if RMNP is even open by then.

Snake Shot: Do you use it for your trail/camp gun when overlanding?

Haven't heard of green stamps in a few years.

Running trails solo as an overlander

The most uncommon thing in all the world is common sense.

Haven't seen the 7 gallon buckets, where do you snag one? Do they have the same size lid?

    US Rocky Mountain Red Cone

Will be there. What comms are people running? I like to take lots of pictures along the way, having been a professional photographer, but with the smoke, the vistas may be lacking. Hopefully we will see the mountain goats.

    Girlfriend Compromise Site Help!

I got tired of the portapotty and went with the 5 gallon bucket with the toilet seat top you can buy. I carry the disposable bags with the gel. It is smaller, cheaper, easier to pack and works very well. Easy to clean...tie up the bag, and it doesn't ever leak. I pack the TP and bags inside...

Running trails solo as an overlander

I've been "overlanding" for over 50 years. 99% has been alone or with my wife riding shotgun. I grew up in the mountains of Colorado on a ranch in the mountains. Rules: Always have someone who knows when you are supposed to be back and check in upon returning. Try to let someone know where...

    Access card denied

I have the handicapped/golden age passport and it has never been accepted at any place other than a National Park for well over 10 years.

    Colorado trip

Especially if you have females along, check out Mousies Coffee/Chocolatier in Ouray. They roast their own coffee daily and they make some of the finest chocolates anywhere. Get a "Scrap" cookie while there. They are huge and contain all the variations of chocolate scraps they had left over...

    Kill Switch for your vehicle

Remember, disconnecting the battery will not necessarily kill the engine. If the alternator is working, you will keep running. I have a hidden disconnect on my fuel pump. It will start, run for a few seconds then die. The question is really, why do you want a kill switch? (1) to kill the...

    Imogene Pass

You are overthinking this. Just use common sense picking a line. I have led dozens of bone stock Cherokee XJ's over it as well as Black Bear.

FYI - Imogene Pass closed - Monsoon rains

Nothing like watching a video with ads slapped across it every 15 seconds.

    Cell signal booster

Here in Colorado and in Utah, once in the back country, they do little or no good. You pretty much need to have line of sight to a tower and once in the hills/mountains, you rarely have that. If you want emergency communications, get a SPOT or the equivalent satellite communicator. The nicer...
