I am looking to do some parts of the TAT in July, heading from Virginia to somewhere beyond Colorado. I am looking at about 10-14 days but I a flexible at this point.
I am looking to do parts with others, or just get advice on which parts are a must, and others that are not critical if time is...
I am traveling through Kentucky on Wednesday the 18th and looking to Mammoth Cave. Do any of the Kentucky members know of a good campsite where I will not be sucking RV fumes? Also, would like any pointer on Overland type thinks I should not miss. I am heading to St. Louis the next day and then...
Thanks - I have seen some of these campsites on websites but hard to know a good one with an overview etc... If you have a particular favorite I would appreciate any particular recommendations.
I am trying to plan about a 2-week trip starring in Virginia and getting out close to Montana. I am visiting family in St. Loius and want to check out Mt. Rushmore, but other than that I am open to remote experiences. Finding out of the way dispersed has been a challenge.
Any advice about...
You might consider Canvascamp. Stable in 70 miles winds (so they indicate), huge interior space, cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold, and you can add a wood stove if you want. What I like most is the warm glow of light that comes through the canvas. Downsides are weight and not packing it...
Will do - but I am thinking I might pass it this time and just do your route. I will have my son with me and not sure how long he can hack the camping. Did you have to reserve the camping spots. I know that GNP is pretty tight in July.

I am hoping there is a road to an exposed mountain top somewhere, where a 4x4 is required to keep the numbers down. I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestion. Thanks
I am hoping I can make it. Put me down as a maybe for now, but should be able to know in about a week. I am open to camping, and this time will not have to run into town for supplies.
I have a canvas camp bell tent. Great head room, breathable, wood stove, bathtub pvc floor, and great ventilation when hot. Weight wise it is heavy but less than an RTT. It is true that finding a flat space is not as easy as maxtrax. leveling out a vehicle, but I think that making camp is why I...
My family and I are traveling from Georgia to Virginia right about the time of the major eclipse. It is going to be a mad house at most public spots, and I was wondering if I could separate from the heard a bit by going to a great meadow or overland destination that requires a 4x4 rig.
I am...
You should check out the Orland stoves. They are beautiful and jack out of the side windows of the Bell Tents. Also, had no idea about the nylon tents with the stove. pretty cool.
