Back in June or July our one and only gas station had gas priced at $1.10, or maybe $1.12 per gallon. There is a grocery store chain that gives you 'fuel points' for every purchase you make that you can use as a discount when filling the tank. We actually got gas, using the points, for $0.87 a...
I use to be a member of the Guns-n-Rovers forum... talk about a forum filled with elitists! The majority of the membership had the same sentiment as the poster you made your reply to. True, not everyone on that forum is this way, but the majority of the 'movers-n-shakers' and mods are (or at...
And that's when I will bow out.
I'm a member of specialized forum for vintage Land Rover SII/SIIa owners called the S2C (Series 2 Club). The forum aspect came about with the internet. This club has annual dues. It has basically every service and feature this organization has yet it produces...
Honestly... I think it's just for new members. If you look I have a low number and paid membership dues once, haven't been asked to again. If I am asked to... well, there are other groups out there.
Yup. And then they start in with "man, the parts must be hard to find and really expensive". In my case, so far the parts have been relatively easy to get and no more expensive than a basic vehicle. My dad and brother both have domestic trucks and they pay a lot more for parts than I do.
But...
Let's not forget the overlanding specific vehicles made pre-1940s. Crossley, Volvo, Ford and others come to mind.
Boucher is correct though. When adventure vehicles come to mind, especially in regard to world travel and 'overlanding', LR and LC are the ones most look towards - with the LR...
It's the only thing I have going for me! ROTF!!!
That is one of the fun aspects of being in the Jeep, Land Cruiser and Land Rover world - it's just like being in the military, we give each other a good ribbing. It's even more fun when it involves the 'classic' vs 'modern' versions.
Jeep had to actually call one of their rigs "Overlander" so that people would come to think it so. Same goes for tge "trail rated".
Yet - one look at a Series Rover and you KNOW you are seeing THE iconic 'overlander'.
ROTFLMAO!!!
ROTFLMAO!!!
I just snorted my water - thanks.
Guess it also depends on what your definition of 'running' is.
I can drive it, but the sea trials are taking a toll, finding lots of little issues that still need worked on.
LOL!!!
Everyone assumes Land Rover = money!
Considering what mine would sell for today I definitely couldn't/wouldn't justify the purchase. It cost me more to paint the Rover than it did to buy (back in July 2004).
Unfortunately, even many within the Rover world just assume you are wealthy...
Agreed.
What bothers me is the following scenario, and attitudes.
About this time, back in 2019, I started shopping around for tires for my Rover. Even after doing a lot of online research I found myself still not sure - there is just SO MUCH info out there.
I possed the question - "which...
From what I understand, you are referring to those who ask questions such as "I have a truck, what type of tires should I buy", or they might even add "to go overlanding".
That is a very broad question that's going to get so many answers it'll muddy the waters so bad it's useless.
It would be...
