Well, hat's what everyone up here tells me. They say its first come first serve on the tent deck space. The one odd thing is that I've also been told that you can NOT sleep in your rig. Its tent on deck, chairs in the main cabin or rent a private cabin.

+1 Books on tape. Well.. Books on iPhone through the car stereo now. We did a lot of road trips (And sail boat trips) with the kiddies when they were young. Books on tape were the ticket for burning miles with smiles! The kids are all college+ age now. They still want to go on road trip just for...
Another option is to get on the WA->Ak ferry in Bellingham and ride up with your rig. I've been told there's even a spot to set up your tents on the ferry. We've been thinking abut trying that route.

Is the sliced boss for the case bolt the damage from the skidplate? That's pretty scary. Looks like the bolt itself stopped the skidplate from cutting all the way through.
Also, what's the bright yellow stuff showing next to the bolt above that?

Finally, ready to drop out the gearbox for rebuild. Getting this ready to pull out was quite the task. You have to tear into just about everything to get to it. One frame crossmember needed to be removed. Much of this stuff is so covered with rust, oil, grease, dirt.. Its like excavating a tar...
Scanned the car? How did you accomplish that? Being Neighbors and all.. I'd love to know how/where to get stuff scanned around here. Also, where are you getting your material laser cut? I've used "Cutters" up in Bellingham for this in the past.

Hahahaha! It was great! I'd go for less water and more things like salt n pepper. But I loved the "un-stuffyness" of the video. One tends to get tired of everyone trying to be all professional. Yours looked like real people just having fun.

Here's the lnk.. err. linkafied : http://www.chrissystems.com/common/getfile.aspx/417032
If you don't type it perfect, all you get is dog pictures. Neat looking boxes though. Might be pretty handy to bolt onto one of my running boards.

Well, then I wouldn't give it another thought. I was just wondering.
We went to a bunch of nonsense trying to design solar systems for boats that minimized shadow issues. Sailboats have all that rigging throwing shadows everywhere.

How are your solar panels working out? I notice that you have bars of your rack going over them. From my boating days, we were taught that any shadow was a complete no no because the slightest shadow could 1/2 the output of a panel. Hopefully panels are better than that today?
Neat setup...
I'm really impressed by your handling of the body rust. I'm also extremely jealous that you can still get body panel parts. At least some of them. I'm looking at having to do body-rot repair in the near future.
And the guy that held the automatic transmission in his head before it was built...
For those of you that are following the build log. There's an update tonight : Carryall Build blog
@58-fc170 I love the simplicity and lack of "features". It does what you want with so little. Mostly iron. When I finally got tired of sparks falling out from behind the dash board, I rewired...
Thanks guys!
I love it when it runs. But today? Today I'm digging in to pull out the transmission. Its a whole extra layer of hurt working on an ancient machine like this. Why? Because for 75 years people have been hacking up the mechanicals, everything tends to be either a frozen ball of rust...
I bought an ex WWII army truck (Dodge WC53) that had been pretty much worn out and forgotten in about the mid 1970s. The original plan was to restore it. But it quickly turned into seeing if we could use it for off-road camping. I guess people call this "Overlanding" now.
Anyway, I've been...
