Coming out of the mountains, heading to Cashmere, finally back on pavement. Rolling along down the hill 45+ and I hear this "zinng POW!!" The rear end siezed up and the truck tries to take out some poor highschool kid in the oncoming lane. I was able to fishtail it back over to the right...
Exciting new fuel line from tank to the engine. Looks like were ready to head out. We'll cross Bridge of the Gods then do regular roads to Packeood. We want to make sure this thing is solid before heading offworld.
But first, time for lunch.

To anyone going on this, we're close by but the truck is broken. Fuel delivery problem. Hopefully we can fix it, but we'll probably be late to start.
Its been two days of wild mechanical truck issues.

Currently posts are limited to 20 images. Is there any way to up this limit? I find that, build logs for example, can have a lot more images than 20. More like 60 at times. Busting up your post in 20 image blocks is kinda'.. Tiresome?
Thanks!

Finally we were told by many that airing down your tires is the ticket for a better off road ride. And to make this feasible, we needed an air compressor.
There is a zillion 12V air compressors out there. And at extremely low prices. I found one where about half the people were...
Time is running out for preparations before our big cross state adventure. At the end of the last installment I’d once again been defeated by the gas gauge. Time to reqally dig in, its been a year or more I’ve been fighting with that stupid thing!
To recap: The arm came out too far and...
Try this..
Yup, works..
What I did..
I found the picture your link was pointing to...
Clicked the picture giving me a black background with the picture. Some sort of viewer I guess.
On my Mac I control-clicked it and chose "Copy image address". PC folks help? I'm sure there is a similar PC...

Back to my old arch nemesis, the leaky fuel sender.
I’d decided to try a neoprene gasket in place of the cork one.
So after carful cleanup, I re-installed the sender with it’s new gasket.
Topped off the gas tank to find..
It still leaks like a sieve. Not only that but now it...

Last time we’d tested the seatbelts and that was a big success. The engine and driveline were rough though. The engine seemed, on the way home, to be rougher than usual. I just put the throttle down and took the rig home. Better broken here and now then in the middle of nowhere on...

So, who's still in for this? I see a bunch of "maybe" people on the list, but not a lot of talk. Time is getting close. We are theoretically ready to go. (Truck is currently in running condition) Anyone else?
-jim lee
Well that's no good. I hope the Doc can fix you up. They can do amazing things these days.
I **think** I have the truck running well enough to at least start the trip. So we're still in. I'm not hearing a lot from anyone else. We may have to go it alone. (Hotel room in Hood river is booked.)...
Thanks for the report!
Last night I ran into a bunch of Canadian Army truck guys that just took their trucks through from Oroville to Leavenworth. We met camping out in our rigs at the Arlington Airshow. I guess they smashed through with some pretty big rigs (2 1/2 ton trucks). They told me it...
One issue you find people with "older" cars talking about is the Detergent vs Non-detergent oils. By "older" we're talking about early 1960s and older where they typically run straight non-detergent oil. What you hear is that running detergent oils in an old motor like this is basically a death...
