New Spokane Rig

I have a new rig I am starting to put together. It is an F-150, 2009, regular cab. First order of business is tires. I have a short drive to work and will be using this truck for daily driving as well as weekend hunting and camping. I have had Goodrich T/A's on a previous truck and was happy with them. Any recommendations? I am not planning to have a separate set of tires for winter, but I am open to the idea.

After tires I will be looking at differentials and a winch so any preaching you have on that subject is welcome.

Also, are there any short trips out of Spokane I can take to try out the current set up to get a better feel for what I want to change?

Thanks,

Sean

There is a ton of places to go, if you want to run fire roads. I’ve found some fire roads that are more than just mild, but they’re few and far between. Seven mile off road park is an option if you’re looking to build more of a wheeler. @Aaron Niemi has a trip going to silver lake in Montana on Friday, if you’re interested. And I’m leading another on in a couple weeks.

I recently put Cooper AT3s on my 93 Dodge 3/4 ton. They have been a great tire. I was really impressed by their winter performance. This pickup has a tuned up Cummins in it, with my previous tires at a stop on ice it would actually continue to creep forward, or just slide the rear end around if the rears were on ice but the fronts were not (engine had enough torque at idle to push the locked up front tires AND turn through the rear brakes). This issue went away with the AT3s. They also ride well (even as a E rated tire) and seem to be wearing very well, despite the occasional slip of the rear wheels. Also a good friend of mine is running AT3s on his 4 runner and he loves them both on and off road.

Try this..

Yup, works..

What I did..

I found the picture your link was pointing to...
Clicked the picture giving me a black background with the picture. Some sort of viewer I guess.
On my Mac I control-clicked it and chose "Copy image address". PC folks help? I'm sure there is a similar PC thing.
Now came back to the message editor and clicked the picture icon, opening an "add link" thing
Paste the link I got from before.

The issue is, the image you first see is a big clickable button. The viewer image has the actual image link accessible.

Good luck, hope this helps!

P.S. Welcome to the NW!

Welcome to OB! We're leaving for Silver Lake at 12:30! :)

CDA national forest isn't far for close trips, I also like to spend time up at Priest Lake.

Definitely join or start your own rally points. Follow the NW forum too.

Good luck on your rig, hope to see you out there!

I LOVE the CDA forest. Lots of easy and mellow roads with amazing views. And if you know where to look theres a bit of old abandoned steam logging equipment that is cool to look at too.

Nice looking pickup, looks like an old Forest Service rig.

Nice truck, and welcome to this site! I went around and around on what tires to use. Living in snow country and daily driving, I would think it is hard to beat the BFGs KO2s. If you want more of a mud tire, BFG KM3s are out now and getting great reviews. I see a lot of places, like 4wheel Drive, have a rebate of $100. off right now. You have a store close by you in Post Falls, ID. Less tax too! Hope this helps, Benz.
