Thanks guys! My first press was made with 3 little pieces of 1/2” square bar, two welded together on the bottom to make a V, and the 3rd was the press on the top. It fit inside a standard hydraulic bearing presser and at ~14” long made a lot of little parts! Took me about an hour to slap...
Yep, you read that right!
After working through the body restoration of my LandCruiser BJ70 I learned a lot about shaping metal.
One of the tools that I really couldn’t have done it without was a little 14” die that I made for a small manual hydraulic press - that allowed me to make nice...
Well life gets busy and shop time seems to suffer, so videos are a little slow to get done right now, but we did manage to escape for a little adventure last weekend, and thought some of you might enjoy this one!
Back to some more of the basics for this episode - why you shouldn't upsize fuses, what the different color crimp connections mean, and why you don't get a shock from a 12V car battery.
Enjoy - I hope it helps!
As requested above @freedomomelet here is a quick overview of our dual battery system in the BJ70. Find out why it's wired the way it is, and what's important when wiring one.
Hope it helps!
Great suggestions. I have a multiple battery setup in the BJ70 that I can make a video of, along with some LED installs. Will put some of this onto video form for you :cD
Little bit of a different direction for this episode, covering electrical crimp connections, how to make proper ones, know they are good, and the tools you need.
Doing it properly is easy with the right tools!
Whoops! Looks like I missed posting a link for you guys at episode six!
Here is episode six, and also the fresh upload of Episode 7, where I get into an actual diagnosis and repair. I hope this helps people aee that it can be fairly straight forward when you can break it down to smaller...
Well, it may seem small to many, but this weekend, I've finally hit (and surpassed!) the 100 subscriber mark!! (And now have my custom URL!) Huge thanks to everyone here who has subscribed! More troubleshooting and project videos coming, and hopefully a few trips this summer!
THANK YOU!
Yup, 1985 BJ70 CDN spec. Bought it about 10 years ago, and since then I've put a LOT of work into restoring the body, close to 200 hours of cutting and welding. I've still got the front and rear doors to do as well - but it's back together and drivable.
Took a trip out to the east coast...
Just threw together some old wheeling clips for a mid week "throwback" (I know, it's not Thursday!)
These are from about 10 years ago, a bunch of diesel cruisers and I hit the trails for some mud, mayhem and mosquitos.... (And found all!)
The next step, an understanding of Voltage (hopefully!).
Keeping things in simple terms is proving harder than I thought, I actually had to shoot this one about 10 times!
Enjoy!
