Glad to hear it. I like Richmond. That area, actually a bit south of it, is on the retirement location list.
It's ok to be overwhelmed, I'm going to try and ensure my pocketbook doesn't get overwhelmed.
Yes. Dogs are allowed. Granted, This is a new venue this year and they still haven't released all of the details regarding kids, pets, etc.. etc... Most of the details of OXE are from last year's event. REEB Ranch may have their own rules. Like Biltmore did. I am going to be interested in...
Indeed. Been going since they started even before the Biltmore. If this is your first one, you might feel overwhelmed with the vendors. Soooooo much to buy, soooooo little money yet some great discounts. Camping is great and meeting new people from all over, with a common love, appreciation...
I plan on meeting you all at Papas and Beer. Since I'm coming from Illinois, I may leave Wednesday night to get a jump start on the drive and hit Daniel Boone NF on the way down. Either way, I plan to be there barring any crazy drama between now and then.
The registration desk closes at 6pm on Thursday, at least they did last year. @wawaskittletits, others, and myself, were looking to get to the restaurant no later than 4pm.
Info updated (I think). So, reviewing the OXE site, Overland Experience, and Weekend Pass (With Camping) attendees can arrive and check in between 10am and 6pm Thursday. Having worked check in and parking last year, and not knowing the new venue this year, I think we need to ensure we...
So based on my projected route from Belleville,IL, I'll be on I-24/40 the whole way thru Tennesee and pick up I 26 in Asheville. Depending on how you guys come down, we could link up at the I40/ I81 interchange, or in Asheville, and drive into Hendersonville together.
I'd be up for that if we could solidify link up point somewhere in GNFW or enroute to the expo. Remember, I moved to southern IL this summer, so I've got a 9 hr drive down I-64 from here, so I can do a map recon tonight and see what a potential overlap to your route would be.
Last year another guy and I got there early and we put up a base camp flag real high. This year is a new venue though so we will have to see what the rules and challenges are regarding saving campsite area. Last year was easy.
Anyone traveling to Overland Expo East this fall? Just moved to southern IL and plan to attend. Interested in convoying down there.

I'll be tent camping/sleeping in my 4Runner, depending on the situation, but I'll be prepared for both. I'm coming out to do some house hunting so that could be considered my only work, while out there, aside from general exploration of the area. I am not on any time schedule or anything...
@Kage, I am looking to visit the area the week of April 8th thru the 13th to do some house hunting before I move my family out in MAY/JUNE. Looking at travel costs, it's going to be cheaper for me to drive than to fly, rent a car, etc... That said, are there any local camping spots near Scott...
