Here at Rendezvous now. Lift turned out great, the bushings went in painlessly. I greased up the sleeve only, and was almost able to push into the bushings by hand. Used a hammer to tap in remaining bit no problem. Thinking about it, I wonder if you also removed the metal outer ring, I did and...
So the lift went on fine, except for the bushings. Even though @DRJ warned me, I decided to do them anyway. After spending HALF of Saturday on to bushings in my passenger leaf spring, on Sunday I decided to take the driver leaf spring and both shackles to a garage and pay them to remove them...
You also need a welder and some decent welding experience to make it look clean. If I had a welder, I'd love to practice for awhile and then do it myself, but I need to get this done in next couple weeks and I don't have time to practice even if I had a welder.
Definitely want to get into...
Good info, maybe we'll try to get out there to check it out. I'd just like to avoid driving 1.5hr on lift and 33s without proper alignment if possible. Just looking for something reliable that's closer if I can find it.
Prepping remaining parts and work list for my lift on my Tacoma, but still need a body chop done. @DRJ hooked me up with the guy that did a great job on his body chop, but I talked to him and he moved recently a couple hours away so need to find someone/someplace else that can do it. Anyone...
I will be putting on my lift next weekend with an extra set of hands from @DRJ , and then new tires a few days after. Then I head down to NC for Appalachian Rendezvous for 5 days. It's about 6.5hr drive but it's solid off-roading experience ran by American Adventurists group, with guys from OEX...
Okay fair enough. I'm Googling around too and still not finding much about premature leaks/failures. I did find some stuff in other forums that may explain what you're seeing though:
Not saying you're wrong, just wish I could find more information/reference of those premature failures etc.
That's surprising to me. I've Googled for other posts related to Bilsteins vs OME and no one mentioned Bilsteins leaking/failing really. Also, Bilsteins come with limited lifetime warranty for manufacturer defects and premature failures etc, whereas OMEs come with ARBs limited 3 year warranty...
Yeah I would love a Fox 2.0 or Icon Stage 2 kit but those are just outside my price range for first lift for the truck. I'd love to hear more info on the OME shocks being more valved/tuned for a Tacoma, do you have any info I can reference?
I'm putting my first lift on my Tacoma to fit 33s. Starting cheap and I have it narrowed down to either Bilsteins or OME. Price isn't important here, I'm fine with either, just curious experiences others have had. I'll be using an AAL for now that I have at home, so disregard any potentially...
