Receiver hitch rod holder project
Problem: my fishing rod holders are 5 ft and I'm 5-8ish. The pipes chewed up mallets, hammers shattered the pipes, and my post driver is heavy. I also wanted something that was quick to set up and take down but still sturdy enough that a 4 ft wide stingray...
I'm starting this thread so I can actually organize the pictures on my phone and find them back later. For starters, I originally had the jeep patriot with custom winch bumper and many other upgrades but after a bunch of coastal trips with the trailer, it just didn't have the power I needed, so...
Household greywater recycling is promoted as a viable source of water for landscape maintenance and dust control in Texas. Don't discharge soap and runoff into a body of water and don't use so much that you create ponding and unsanitary conditions and you won't have a problem.
Might want to try lowering it a bit. It looks to be in the path of your passenger air bag. Get into a crash strong enough to tip that sensor and you'll have all that hardware coming your way.
My grandfather always used the racks mounted between the seats with the barrels pointing towards the engine... even after the time grandma forgot to unload her rifle and the hair trigger sent an 8mm mauser bullet into the back of the engine. That is a bad place to mount guns regardless of how...
Trail blazers for centuries have complained about civilization following in their footsteps and spoiling the wild with the comfortable. That's just how it works, and now it works at the speed of light. The prominence/plague of new technology and social media only sped up the process. Funny thing...
The subscription is $2.50 per month to support the site and its development. How many of us had $30 in subscriptions to some glossy paged magazine that was 50% ads, 25% glowing reviews of obviously crap products, and a 2 page article we actually found interesting? The rest were mailers for...
Now I remember, 42, it was all low as I could go and not have the constant warning light.
But, my Goodyear tires were also E and didn't have this issue. I don't run 30, just testing some tire deflators.
Sounds similar to what I built a few years ago for surf fishing trips.

Edit, here's a good picture. By using a shade with 3 points, it is easier to catch the wind and have the wind hold it up like a kite
I haven't been impressed with BFG KO2s in my Ram 1500. Discount tire wouldn't let me put the D rated tires, only the E based on the truck specs. The tires shake the entire truck at road speeds within a week of being balanced. Good performance in deep sand at slow speeds on Matagorda beach at its...
I've never been to that particular beach but here's a few tips I'd consider
1) keep a shallow bucket/tray and a little water to knock the sand off your feet if gritty bothers you. Gold bond powder also works well.
2) I've found that bringing 3 to 5 gallon buckets are good tie down weights that...
Not trying to be mean, but IMO, we don't have the market in Texas.
A proper Texas overlanding auto show would include highway and hybrid all terrains that can handle pot holes and nails because that's the worst threat the overwhelming majority of our roads are. You don't need a 1000 mile fuel...
I second this. Did it for my 3500 pound utility winch and it has come in handy multiple times. Not for highway use but it did great pulling a broken down and forgotten garden tractor out of the sand and into my utility trailer and moving fallen trees at camp sites. The leads are not permanently...
Get some extra pipe and practice. Mig can be tricky but you'll get it figured out. Get a piece of scrap and cut notches to weld back up (and take notes). Test a variety of wires, amps and polarity to find what works. We used to butt weld two pieces of flat together and bend it over until it...
We have a lot of turnover like suitcases, bedding, cooking gear, food, hunting/hiking gear, fishing gear and a dog crate getting rotated through a big pile on most trips so it can't be too constrained. I would like to do doors inside but I'm not sure if they would be useful or just more material...
I like the spigot on the top like on my 7 gal water cube so it doesn't get broken off and accidentally drained. You only have to tip it over when in use. I also went with a standard brass hose bibb fitting that is garden hose compatible.
Yeah, I did just after posting. Lol
I'm sure it's good stuff but I'm not making an elaborate rack system. I'll only need one, maybe two simple shelves with tie downs using the seat mount locations. After looking up the cost, I can build the entire thing cheaper with other materials than just the...
