    Dfw/frisco meetup???

There was a small meet this Saturday in weatherford. A few will even be joining us at a “get out of the house” state-parking trip this upcoming weekend. Keep an eye on Tom’s posts

    Critical Gear for getting started

Healthy snacks, water, comfy polarized sunglasses, sensible driving skills. Figuring out how far you like to drive in a day makes trips much more fun. Jump starter, wrench+socket+screw driver set that fits any hardware you find on your vehicle, pliers, long pry bar, appropriate sized bottle jack.

    Upgraded axe and shovel mount

I’d replace the foam with two boards with indentions cut in them to hold the tools. Then drill a drain hole in the lower corner

Dog | big fan of the bumpy road?

We use a rechargeable battery powered fan to generate white noise.

US Southwest Ft Worth West Meetup - Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Johnson, Erath, Somerville, Tarrant, and Jack Counties

Maybe sooner if the weather over there is as soggy as it is over here lol

    BDR for Texas?

The south sections should be pretty easy to source gravel, especially S SW of San Antonio. I’d expect you’d go west for the next portions. If you can find the Benchmark maps Texas road and recreation atlas, it has the surface type. I’ll bring it Saturday

    Rear Mounted Winches

Mine’s removable. Haven’t used it on anything exciting but I’ve found that I use it more than when it was on the front of the jeep. Extracted an old buried lawn mower, fallen trees and pulling a few posts.

    My Little Trailer Build!

Also, forgot to mention that I did something similar to yours for a farm trailer net a long time ago using the rope, bows and welded the bows to angle slides. IIRC, we attached the rope to the front of the trailer and welded a chain link to one of the doors. The rope and net was permanently tied...

    My Little Trailer Build!

Only the outside ones, the internal ones have 5 Velcro loops that hold the tent to the canvas. You could get around this by just using a round rope ratchet strap with a loop tied in wherever needed. I’ve rigged awnings by folding the loop over a pole/pipe/branch and around each side of the main...

    My Little Trailer Build!

See if you can find a picture of the kodiac truck bed tent. Their poles are removable and pre bent to keep them from twisting. They use a swivel peg on the truck bed side like a tent pole. Something like that might also be adaptable for your trailer

    My Little Trailer Build!

I welded them to angle that runs most of the length of my truck bed. Unfortunately the pictures got so compressed you can’t see anything https://www.overlandbound.com/forums/posts/514308/

US Southwest Ft Worth West Meetup - Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Johnson, Erath, Somerville, Tarrant, and Jack Counties

We’ll be a bit late. Wife doesn’t get off work until 3 ish and then it’s almost as hour to get there.

    My Little Trailer Build!

Here’s another idea if those don’t work, 3/4” metal electrical conduit is what I used for my truck bed cover tarp ribs. It holds a canvas tarp just fine and I’ve thrown light and fluffy fishing and swimming gear on top. Easy to cut, shape and weld.

BTW, there will be a meet in weatherford this Saturday. We’ll probably bring our light weight home built camper to show off and for a warm spot to stuff the dogs at dinner time.

    Fording the Ozarks

Get a basic set of hip waders or tall rubber boots and walk it any time you can’t see bottom. Use a sharpie to mark your depth limit. I’ve seen jerks power braking in a muddy track for a rooster tail picture. What started out as 4 inches deep was a sharp wallow easily over a foot deep when they...

What does everyone use for water storage?

We have a 10 gallon igloo for summer trips. Just throw a 10-20 pound bag of ice in each day keeps us set for water. We’ve also got a 5 gallon igloo with built in legs and a 1 gallon pump sprayer for washing. For bigger trips we’ll also bring the 7 gallon reliance cube.
