    Any Exped Megamat Max Owners?

We opted for 2 Megamats and not the Duo for a little added flexibility. They were purchased last year in the middle of a five week trip for their high insulation values and while they have lived up to their advertisements for warmth, the real surprise is the comfort. Hands down the most...

    Georgia Traverse

I did east to west in June of 2019. Camped 2 nights, sites were easy to find but that may have changed due to the pandemic rush.

Thoughts on the Go Fast Camper, whether you have one or not.

Not sure I had any regrets. Since that time my wife has had a knee replacement and the climbing would be easier today:). Dust penetration from around the tailgate was an issue we never solved. I got a foam seal kit for the tailgate gaps and also caulked some corners and seams of the truck bed...

Thoughts on the Go Fast Camper, whether you have one or not.

OK, I've had a GFC, in fact, had the first one on the east coast. My wife and I are in our late 60's so climbing in and out got old. That aside, it is a quality built product from a company run by good people. Here's my take on a couple of questions raised so far. The Exped Megamat Duo won't...

    Pisgah National Forest.

Old NC 105 is a county road and is traveled regularly by locals. I think it's doubtful it will be closed to traffic but the camping along it will get closed if the virus rebounds in the area. IMHO

It is my understanding that Hurricane Creek has been closed by the FS. You might want to check before driving there.........

    Georgia Traverse

During summer months it's a long green tunnel. Winter provides some great views.

    Meat Cove

We were there last fall the week before they closed. Campground was about full and the afternoon was beautiful. About dark the wind picked up and absolutely howled all night. We were camping in a Shiftpod2 which is very wind resistant but it was a sleepless night. Around 4:30 am many of the...

Anyone do a NM Black Range (formerly NM Backroads) trip?

I haven't traveled or trained with Jake but have spoken with him over the phone a couple times and exchanged several emails. He seems like a stand-up guy.

Has anyone mounted a bladder tank for water under their roof rack?

I'm a big fan of water bladders but under no circumstances would I put 20 gallons on the roof. That weight plus the roof rack weight plus its contents and you're really screwing up the vehicle center of gravity. I have several 10 liter dromendary bags which can be stashed in the floorboards...

Need Overlanding gateway experience for the family (East Coast)

I think the risk will be in towing the trailer through deep, loose powder fine sand.
