That’s great. The aprs.fi site is pretty neat. I checked on your location last night, finding you someplace in the Oregon cascades. I can see how this service \feature of ham radio is so applicable to overlanding. Stay safe out there.
We missed you last night Brent. The net went pretty smoothly but I did rush it a bit to squeeze everybody in at the end. I’ll know better next time.
How’s your trip so far?
Guys. I have to apologize up front. I will not be able to join tonight. We had a roof leak causing a bunch of problems in the house. Working on damage control.
Best of luck with the net. I’m sure it will be awesome!
Understood. I think several of us are dialing in echolink. The net went really well. Brent and Shane did a great job and we sorted some of the details for future nets. Look forward to chatting with you next time around.
Hi South Sounders! Just chatted with Brentc17. I'm not south but would be interested in joining the meetup if you have room for one more. Not afraid to drive and who doesn't like beer and coffee? -Ed (N7PHY)
Brentc17 brought up Echolink in another post and it has me thinking. Perhaps we could put something together that spans the globe without requiring HF privileges. Anyway, I'll look into it. Not too familiar but looks pretty cool.
Hey Brentc17, No, not dialed into anything that far south but will poke around with the repeater guide see what I can hit from the truck. Have not messed with echolink but looks to be a viable way to link a bunch of us together.
Thought provoking article. Nice to know I’m not alone commuting in my adventure mobile. I have an over-roof rack system which must be removed before I can fit in a parking garage. Looking into other solutions but may just dial in public transportation. Anyway, thanks for the article.
