Thought I would pass on this excellent forum article discussing vehicle comm's. Aligns with last weeks net topic of mobile communication gear.

Hello Everyone.
I'll be your net controller for tonight's Overland Bound amateur radio net. Tonight is open topic night; planning any off-road trips? Working on rig upgrades? Or shopping for a new vehicle?
As usual, pretty much anything else will go as well. Hope you can join us.
My apologies...

We had a really great net last night. Thank you everyone who could join in. The conversation centered around mobile communication gear. It would take me all day to transpose all the great conversation, but I’ll summarize some of the highlights. If anyone is interested in the raw notes, I would...
Hello fellow overlanding Hams. I'll be net control this Friday and would like to discuss off-road radio gear. What communication gear do you run when traveling off-road? Do you run APRS? Non-ham gear? If you could install anything, what would it be?
I hope you are having a good week and can...
I thought the repeater link went well Mark. If it's not a hassle for you I'd encourage continued linking. Sorry to hear about the back, those back roads will get you. Take care!
Many thanks to everyone who joined us last night for the OB Amateur Radio Net. The first Friday of each month is 'New Ham Q&A' night which always leads to great conversations. Last night didn't disappoint.

Well, we didn't have a formal net tonight but a few folks found us on the KF4YLM repeater and echolink.
We had an interesting round table talking about HF antennas mostly.
Our participants tonight:
W7BR, KF4YLM, KI7RAM, KN4HTA, VA2EEK, and KD2SOC gave it a valiant try.
By next week we'll have...
Unfortunately the GnG server is down and folks are not able to connect to my node. A few of us are hanging out on the KF4YLM-R (repeater) node if you would like to join us.
Greetings again amateur radio overlanders. The Grits-n-Gravy conference server is having technical difficulties tonight. If you find it is offline and wish to check in try connecting directly to my node. N7PHY
It's not ideal but we'll host the net one way or another.
Thanks everyone! - Ed
Good day everyone,
I'll be your net control this evening for the weekly Overland Bound amateur radio net. Tonight I'd like to discuss the topic of vehicle security. Do you do anything more than just lock the doors? It came up after my truck was broken into in a parking garage. I'm looking at...
Confess I've never had snake. Nor kangaroo or wallaby jerky.
I mentioned all that to my wife, who loves the mayonnaise and tomato sandwich but wasn't buying into the banana addition. Lost her at the snake diet as well.
What a great net!
Great net tonight everybody. We had an amazing discussion about food and favorite camp recipes.
Below are the notes. Feel free to chime in here if you think of other camp food pro-tips.
