I did a little research on this, and the T4 does have ZDDP in it already. Apparently the T4 is the re-packaged version of the T, and the T had ZDDP in it.
We're pretty warm here in the Mid-West too, and I'm thinking 15/40 T4 as well for the warmer months. Plus we're hitting the road this summer for the next couple years, and think the 15/40 would be good heading out West since it's pretty warm out there too. Are you using any kind of ZDDP...
So I would either need an Astro clutch, and fan. Or, a Chevy Express non ac clutch, and fan. DO you know if there's a difference between the two? I'm running to the parts store today to get those items along with oil.
While I'm asking you questions, what oil do you use? I can't seem to find a...
One more thing. Do you think the Astro fan clutch will fit the Disco fan? Or would I need the fan to go with it? I've read about people using a Chevy Express Cargo Van clutch from the non-ac models along with the stock disco fan. They say not to get the one for the ac models because it'll...
Let me know what you come up with on this. Can you get a couple more pictures for me so I can see exactly what this looks like? I'll have to look at my skid to see what can be done to divert air up.
This is good to know.
I'm going to look into the Astro clutch to see what I can find. I was also considering the Napa Severe Duty clutch which I've read about some people using. I also need to make sure I have all the air out of the system since I'm not 100% convinced it is. I also need to...
What temps were you running before the winch, and after the winch. We noticed out of no where this past weekend that the temps are getting high. Normal highway driving we saw temps at 217, but would drop back down to 210. We even have the soft spring t-stat too. I also know we have the original...
Had a little forward progress this weekend. I was able to install our ARB compressor, and get the winch mounted up.
I decided to put the ARB CKMA12 compressor under the passenger seat. I decided to make small extension to come off the frame I made for the safe. I also added a fixed piece of...
We spent some time at the shop this weekend, and got everything figured out. We ended up having 3 injectors that were stuck open, and dumping gas into the cylinders that misfired. After replacing the injectors, and getting the engine put back together it fired right up. After a short drive we...
The good news is the engine started on Saturday. The bad news is we pulled the top end off on Sunday.
From the start we had a major ignition issue. The engine started on 4 cylinders, and cylinders 8 6 4 3 we not firing. Cylinders 7 1 looked good while cylinders 2 5 seemed to be running rich. I...
We have a couple tubs of that stuff already!
We're pretty used to getting sick in Colorado, and it never fails that one of us is sick when we're hiking out there. We'll be in Colorado for at least 4 weeks before we start, and hiking the entire time. I'm sure that'll be enough time for us to...
We'll most likely be heading out of Denver when we start, and we don't have a set time to start right now. We're starting our journey towards Colorado around the 4th of July, and will be stopping at various places along the way. Once we're in Colorado we're going to hiking around on smaller...
We're boots_and_backpacks on Instagram.
I totally understand the Triple Crown thing. Having hiked the AT I don't think we'll do it again. It was a great hike, but we didn't care for the social environment that much. Our hiking revolves around our dog, and she's just as antisocial as we are...
I hear you on the coffee. When were out for shorter hikes I carry a grinder, and Snow Peak French Press. Nothing like having a good cup of coffee before hitting the trail.
I just came across this thread, and thought I would chime. My wife and I are both avid backpackers. We've hiked the Appalachian Trail, Long Trail, and Ozark Trail. In addition to those trails we've also hiked all over country, and plan on continuing that this summer. This summer we'll be hiking...
We're getting even closer after this past weekend. We have just about everything on the engine now, and we don't have any leftover parts. We're aiming to start the new engine this Saturday. I just purchases Royal Purple break in oil for the first 500 miles, and will most likely stick with Royal...
We have big things going on right now. A few months ago we decided to bite the bullet, and order a new engine from the UK. So much for not going overboard on this build! The company of choice was Turner Engineering, and they're regarded as one of the best engine re-builders around. After the...
