    White Rim Reservations

I'm in a similar situation as you. I hope that they get back on line today as they were still offline yesterday. I would continue trying to get your reservations for the campsites until you get a confirmation.

New build - JKU Rubicon or Diesel ZR2?

Thanks! I didn't realize that gas mileage would be that low on the highway. I get that with my F-350 with my pop up camper on board.

New build - JKU Rubicon or Diesel ZR2?

Curious why you said that you wished you had the diesel for longer trips...I’m looking at a ZR2 as well. What kind of mileage did you get on that trip if you remember?

OB Approved The Importance of Search and Rescue Insurance, Donations, and SAR Cards (US)

Also... here is an excellent article from Expedition Portal covering the pros and cons of several companies... https://expeditionportal.com/buyers-guide-travel-insurance-rescue-and-medical-evacuation-services/

OB Approved The Importance of Search and Rescue Insurance, Donations, and SAR Cards (US)

Let me contribute to this great topic. When we travel remotely in the US we get our evacuation and medical coverage through our Garmin InReach which is fairly inexpensive. When we travel to more remote parts of the world we wanted to up our capability (not that InReach services aren't good)...

    Overland Expo Sold!

Hope it's OK to post here on this forum but the two largest Overland Expositions, Expo West and Expo East, has been sold to an Overland Event company... https://lodestoneevents.com/f/lodestone-events-acquires-overland-expo The East event have been plagued by (frankly) poor logistical planning...

    Keeping your kids warm?

Well my "kids" are both over 6 feet tall but when they were little we had a small mummy sleeping bag like this.. Depending on how your little one likes to sleep this may be a viable option. What ever you do make sure you have a good pad underneath to keep from getting too cold. Another...

Western Virginia Monthly Meetup (old thread)

Hey guys- It was great meeting everyone this afternoon. I think Mike may have mentioned a weekend camping trip where we could learn from each other (HAM, First Aid etc.) and I think that would be a great idea....just not sure what I could contribute except my experience with InReach or...

    This pending snow storm

Here in SW VA were only expecting a lot of rain. Been that way for the past year (except for the 15" of snow we got in December). It just a muddy mess here. I used to love big snows when I lived in NH but now...not so much!

    Trophies, Badges, and Ranks!

Maybe I just need more coffee this morning ... If I understand the chart correctly, and it's entirely possible I don't, I should have reached Contributor III and Enthusiast II levels... but I still don't understand the points concept. Any help would be aappreciated.

Mixing synthetic oil and conventional oil

I'll also jump on the Mobil 1 bandwagon! It is specified for our Porsche and I've used it in all our gas engines. I run Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in the Jeep EcoDiesel and my F-350 diesel as well as our construction equipment and have never had an issue in over 30 years...

    iPad Mini or iPad

So what is everyone using for mounts? I'm particularly interested in guys in full size trucks. I looked at a mount that screws into the passenger seat base but I think it will be too short to get above the console of my truck...

Yup, another "which truck" thread...(4wheeling with an airstream hauler?).

Towing a big trailer and going on off-road trails are really not compatible. I agree with the F-250 but it sounds like you're a Toyota fan boy so, let me suggest that you consider a Sequoya (sp?). Properly set up they are very capable as a towing/off-road compromise.

Alpine Loop - Colorado: First Overland/Camping trip. Driving from Texas. Trip Planning.

We will be driving to Durango from Virginia where we'll meet our oldest son (30) and his wife who we are trying to get into overlanding. We will probably spend a week or so exploring Mesa Verde and the ancient ruins. Then we'll go back to Durango and make our way up to Silverton where my son...

Alpine Loop - Colorado: First Overland/Camping trip. Driving from Texas. Trip Planning.

We are planning on going during the last week of June (if it's open). In my F-350 with Hallmark Camper (without the trailer). I can highly reccomend you buy the Guide to Colorado Backroads and 4 Wheel Trails. It has a lot of detailed information and can help you decide which trails to take and...

Black Friday & Cyber Monday Overlanding Gear Deal Thread

Another update... I had not received any communication so I decided to try and contact Nick. Actually I just decided to bug the shit out of him until he responded. (Keeping over $500 of my money for almost two months is NOT a way to do business). Anyway I just received an email with a tracking...
