    Locker or Winch??

Lots of good advice here. @Daryl 32 had a good opportunity to install a locker, so that was a good choice there (cheers from another 7.3 4x4 owner). Both, ill used, will get you deeper into trouble. A locked axle and a heavy foot are a recipe for disaster. You Will Find The Weakest Link In...

Look at the rear shocks with me please (pics)

Umm......wrong. The lower bushing may be out of position if the nuts are ran all the way down. There should be some sort of shoulder for a washer to ride on to keep that lower bushing in position. Would you mind disassembling that upper bushing set, leave the shock on, and take more pics?

Shocks - boots or no boots?

Fox 2.5" x 11" on custom mounts on rear of Xterra. I run generic boots with drain holes because chrome plated shafts are not ding proof.

    Cummins Turbo Diesel Crate engine

IIRC, the Cummins package comes with a 50 state emissions package so chassis year of production is moot. Someone correct this if it is wrong.

Is the term "overland" being misused/abused?

THIS THREAD NO LONGER REPRESENTS THE POSITIVE CONVERSATION THAT IS THE MISSION OF OVERLAND BOUND. IT IS LOCKED

    Gas vs Diesel

I was honestly thinking mechanical injection, 5.9 Cummins, 6.9 International/Ford w/ turbo, 6.5/6.5 Detroit/GM w/ turbo. Won't get the efficiency of an electronic management motor, but less electronic liability. Yea, I looked at the pre DEF 6.7 Cummins before I lost my mind and bought a '17...
