My old LR Defender 90 was named the Exxon Valdez, in part because it's registration plate was XON, but mainly due to the amount of oil it used to leak. My current Defender 110 is The Brick, again it's registration plate and it's similar aerodynamic shape.
Hi all, I just got my membership number, 4776, so thought I should say hi from sunny Somerset. I hope to catch up, meet, share ideas, locations, campsites etc. with you all in the near future.
Nice kit, I'm in my late 50's and climbing down the ladder twice a night is something I have to consider, hence favouring the ground tent and toilet option.
I think a wise move with the water tank, even a baffled tank the water moves around, just like towing a horse, if only they'd stay still. I had to ask if you wanted to sell it in case you were fed up with the trailer already. Suffering with trailer envy here.
There is some nice kit out there, we saw some and the Adventure Overland Show last year, £12k is what I do remember fully kitted. Have you looked at Nene Overland's website, I think that import some?
Love it, great work. Keep the weight down, drawer systems and water tanks add lots of weight and weight is your enemy with trailers on and off road. I hated towing my wife's horse trailer. As for tents, I'm a ground guy myself but I do like the 3 Dogs trailer/roof top tents. If you ever want to...
Do you take fresh clothes for everyday? We tend to take 5 days worth and find a campsite with clothes washing facilities every few days and have a lazy day in camp. I do intend making an overlanders washing machine. Wash as you drive.
Nice forward controlled Jeep. The Land Rover 101 Forward Control is something similar dating from the 70's , there are a few around converted to campers/rv's, I'd love one but like your truck 10 to 12 mpg. I have no idea if fuel costs are similar UK/US these days, we pay £1.20 per litre.
I was thinking that myself so I have check the numbers. I get 27 mpg in the winter and 33 mpg in the summer, that is using imperial gallons rather than US gallons. if I am correct 1 imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallons what I should have done is multiplied by 0.83 rather than what ever I did, so 33...
In the UK our pets have to have a passport, micro-chipped and all appropriate vaccinations to travel outside the UK. Crossing Europe the National borders are not a problem. But you need the pet passport and to have a vet pass your pet as "fit to travel", no more that 5 days before you return to...
I apologise if that looks like advertisings a product, it's not supposed to be, it is just an e-bay example of the type of bag I use for trash that I hook up to me spare wheel carrier.
Here is a cheap as chips alternative to a Trasharoo.
The WW2 style haversack.

You may have just drained it before the point of a big bill. Watch for an oily film in your fresh coolant it may suggest a head gasket has gone. Something I always fear with mine as LR TD5's do have that problem at high mileage, mine has done 170,000 miles. I can't afford another big bill, I...
I hope your engine block is ok, that does look a lot of rust in your coolant. It may be worth removal all your hoses and flush everything out with clean water before putting them back and refilling with good quality antifreeze.
