I have done it once in the rain and it was no different than usual, but since it has been raining on and off for a couple days that may make the crossings deeper/more fun.
Theo and I went up two weeks ago and had a good time. We hit a handful of the 300 level roads in the southwestern part of the park. We didn't hit anything too bad but there we're some ruts and real slick/deep mud in spots. If you are heading out alone make sure you have recovery gear or turn...
Awesome, thanks. Do you have any particular camp spots that you recommend that are not designated spots? I have a couple I dropped pins on in Gaia but I'm not sure if they will be any good just yet.
Great, that is what I thought it was saying as well but I wanted to make sure. We're planning to camp on the water somewhere off one of the forest service roads... Would that be a bad idea during hunting season? I already bought our permits so we're committed to going this weekend, just trying...
Does anyone have experience with the seasonal roads at LBL. I am looking at the MVUM for the area and I keep seeing seasonal roads but I am not sure how to interpret the dates and if I am allowed to travel on them. Below is an example.
Yeah, I will be heading up there tomorrow morning. Aiming to get there around 9am. I will probably need to fill up my tank before we enter the park so we can meet at the Exxon in Dover, TN right next to the McDonalds. Below is a Google Maps link and the adddress is 1501 Donelson Pkwy, Dover, TN...
I'm thinking of heading up sometime between 8 and 9 and just exploring some of the forest service roads up there. I have a friend in town so we're probably going to do some primitive camping somewhere in the park on Friday night. It's gonna be cold!
Has anyone went camping in Franklin State Forest? I'm having trouble finding any information regarding camping there. I'm trying to find some camping close to Adventure Offroad Park near South Pittsburg for this weekend.
I might be heading up in a couple weeks but I am not sure yet. Does anyone have any GPX files of the routes you took? I'd love to recreate them sometime when I go.
Thanks!
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it up there this weekend. I hope you all have a good time though and I am looking forward to reading the stories. Enjoy the weekend!
I posted this in the LBL thread, but for anyone interested I have some GPX/KML files you can download that have the roads and Turkey Bay trails as of 2017.
Land Between The Lakes MVUM (as of 2017)
Turkey Bay OHV (as of 2017)
Can you detail exactly what the 12v prep and wiring package (package 4) entails? I emailed them but I just want to double check with what Rob said for you. I feel this may be a good option because I can think over the course of the 13 month wait (WOW!) on what exactly I want to run in the...
I haven't tried the Hiker but I feel we will be more than comfortable in the 5x8 as we are shorter people.
We are doing a fair bit of upgrades but I am still trying to decide on what to do with the electrical system. I will have them run cables at the minimum but I am not sure if I want to go...
