That is good to know about Halsey. I've only driven on one of the trials going back through the trees there but it looked like there are a lot of trails overall. It's definitely a place I want to check out further.
I've never been to Nebraska National Forest but will definitely look into it as...
Sorry for the low quality photos. Instead of a wooden shelf, I put some hooks into the ceiling (into the joists to support weight) and use swing chain to support the weight of the RTT in storage.
If you want to use this hoist setup to lift a hardtop or RTT, then you'll need to deviate in one...
I did this many years ago. I based it partially on some directions on JK Forum. I couldn't find those exact directions but these seem to be close. I didn't bother with making a shelf. Also, instead of the hand winch, I went with a cheap electric winch. I've been using the setup for 9 years...
I made one out of steel c channel strut available at any Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, etc. and an inexpensive electric winch from Harbor Freight. I use this hoist for both my RTT and the hardtop on my JKU.
I got a Freespirit Recreation M60 earlier this year. It's a fantastic RTT and I'm very happy with the purchase. And more importantly so is the rest of my family. If you'd like to read my thoughts on it, you can check out my informal review -...
No problem, hopefully there will be many more meet ups in the future. Dustin, I live in Lincoln. Let me know and we could meet up sometime. It's always good to know others with the overland interest!
Asa and Brian, it was good to meet you guys. It will be great to try and plan some trips for next year. Here are few suggestions I have for possible trips:
Relatively short drive about 5 hours away- http://kansasadventures.com/Scenic-Attractions/arikaree-breaks.html...
I used to run BFG AT KO's on my JKU. They were still going strong with 67k miles on them so I gave them to a friend. I decided to switch to Goodyear Duratracs. I've had these on my vehicle for nearly 4 years now. They have around 48k miles on them. Here is my comparison and then I'll...
RC offroad rigs are definitely fun. It's great to see some amazing examples in this thread. Here is my Tamiya F350 when I first got it in a poser type of shot.
All, I think I can make it earlier as well. I'll double check with the wife (boss :-). Any particular part of the store we want to meet? Over by the restaurant or fish tanks by entrance?
One easy option is to pick a restaurant and just meet up there to get an intro to everyone. Another could be to meet up at a place that carries gear relevant to camping/overlanding such as Cabelas, or something. Or yet another could be if anyone knows of good trail nearby. I'm sure others...
Thanks Dustin and Asa! I think the idea for a group trip to Halsey is a great one. I've been there once and there are a good amount of back roads/trails there. Until that one get's organized, we should plan an area meet-up. This year I got a roof top tent to go on my Jeep. Next year I plan...
Hi all, I joined this site not too long ago. And while roaming around the forum today found this thread. It's great to see fellow Nebraskans here! I'm located in Lincoln, NE. And I would definitely join a meet up of the subgroup here.
Hi all, I'm located in Nebraska. I've had my 08 Jeep JKU for nearly 10 years and my family has used it to go on many trips. It's pretty much a budget build with mild modifications. Most recently I added a roof rack and roof top tent. After using it for the first time, I knew it was something...
