Have a gobi rack, and use the soft top, for just in town. The gobi rack is not the most aerodynamic rack, it produces a lot of neg pressure causing the top to flutter. Sure you can add padding and all, but overall it gets pretty loud. And getting to your cargo is a PITA. Only did one trip...
I need to clean up my channel and have a focused one just for covering "overland". Most of my videos are i would call family overland videos since i produce/create them for my family. With that said, other folks have found it useful when trying to get better idea in places we've been too.
fair enough, i can only relate my personal experience with it. I looked into Kargo Master then, they didn't have the pro-cage then if i recall and the one they had was not pleasing to the eyes at all. The Pro-Cage definitely is a step up, plus i dig the hood cowl cat walk, and i personally...
I haven't heard of a Gobi rubbing on the hardtop unless that's just improperly installed. a corner brace helps stop the flex, it is an add-on accessory. I don't have one, i want one since any rigidity support is a good thing -- but if i order one now, i would have completed three around the...
I only have experience with my Gobi but I can attest to the sturdiness and build quality. I've loaded it with boxes, gas, firewood, RTT and awning and traveled many road conditions (washboards and trails that swing you back and forth non-stop!).
with that said, Gobi has several weeks of wait...
I likke the design. I DIYed one, two A beams like a sawhorse. but i like your design so i think i'm going to do the same this spring.

One thing i can add re driving. Check traction condition (whether onroad or off-road) by purposely accelerating and braking heavily to determine where the threshold is (where your ABS kick-in or with no ABS, when it locks up). A lot of times you may feel like you have decent traction but slick...
I did UP early this year from west to east. The west side has tighter trails and less travelled. Wash outs and some rocky sections yet nothing too technical however you are in a very remote, heavy forest area so travelling alone is always stressfull :). The east side is a mud bath but well...
Campgrounds are open now that temps have cooled down. Also superior national forest has plenty of campgrounds from full sites to primitive sites. Was just up there for fall colors camping with my boys.

One other thing i always remember being a hassle with cooler. We would normally have some food that we didn't end up cooking, typically those steak nights turning to a noodles night since that's all the time you got to prep food. By the end of the trip, my dry-ice is done, and the ice/cooler...
sweet, the price is not bad at all.
I am probably not close to the weight 7200lbs you are carrying but it's good to know this is an option. I get the lean too :(.
Unfortunately, no one publishes their spring rates, at least that i am aware off. So it is hard to compare, and it's become a trail-and-error.
Fortunately the Jeep has a strong community so it's not like you're shooting in the dark, and have lots of folks willing to help, and you can make a...
After years of service, my Coleman cooler (barely in shape) got replaced by a RTIC 45 that was on sale (only reason i got one, and nope, won't touch a Yeti!). The problem i have is that a 45qt cooler loses most its space from the ice. I also use dry-ice for my long trips. Very effective, but...
I went with AEV 2.5 as well, with large hopes of it being able to support my load.
Prior to this, i just had the stock with a leveling kit and there's obviously quite a bit of sag that I was actually surprised that i was still able to run mild trails and not get hung-up. Note that i also...
